I applied for a administrative role with a well known company in January.
Had my dbs and credit check and started the role 3 weeks ago.
They haven't asked for any references
Which in a way is good as I was struggling for them.
Will they ask at a later stage?
Or do you think it would have been done by now?

No they might not ask. If you’ve already started then they probably won’t now.

Oh that's good to know.
They seemed more concerned with the DBS and credit check than refs

Many places merely confirm that you worked there and don't give "testimonials" as such so if it is a job where a DBS is required that may be more importnant to them.

They dont need them, it varies between companies but these days they're so vague, literally just with dates of employment, that they are starting to be used much less

MollysMummy2010 · 18/02/2021 14:38

Why did you need a credit check for an admin role? Is that usual these days? I work I n finance and never had one!

safariboot · 18/02/2021 14:40

Well, it's up to the new employer.

Like a PP said, more and more employers give "references" that are nothing more than start date, end date, job title. So all they're good for is catching CV liars.

mootymoo · 18/02/2021 14:41

Credit checks are common in anything involving money that might require you to be a signatory

doctorhamster · 18/02/2021 14:44

It's very odd that they would do a DBS check but not need references Confused
