I start a new job Monday.
I've been really looking forward to it.
Good money etc and I feel lucky to have found something given current circumstances.
Today I had a teams meeting to get introduced to everyone.
7 new starters and 5 of them are male.
Only me and another woman.
All the managers are male.
I just feel like it's going to be such a male dominated office.
I'm now worried incase this other woman doesn't turn up and it's just me and all the men.
I worry we will have nothing in common
I worry on team nights out I won't be able to go
Aibu ?

I work in a male dominated area. I'm usually the only female in the team or in meetings.

It just doesn't bother me. I don't have an issue going on nights out and I've made two very good male friends.

I work at a company where 96% of the staff are male. There are a few dickheads, but I love the rest of them. Brilliant people to work with, we have laugh and they don’t really treat me any different than anyone else. Now and again, they will apologise for swearing in front of me, which is funny.

We talk about all sorts of things - each other’s children, pets, news, football, clothes etc. The conversations are not much different to conversations I would have with other women.

@MillieMooBee

Try working in the Fire Service! Honestly you will be fine. They will have recruited the best people for the job not because of gender (hopefully!!). Good luck with it 😀
Exactly! My sister is the only female firefighter on her station but it does not bother her as everyone is professional!
