To think Matt Hancock is the best cabinet minister by a very long way

I'm no fan of him and he can come across as a bit of a wally, but when you look at what he's been doing he's miles ahead of all the others, he seems to be the only one really doing anything. It does actually seem like he's working hard. AIBU?

There's not much competition is there?

He works hard because he's completely out of his depth.

BornOnThe4thJuly · 17/02/2021 19:40

I think Rishi Sunak seems to be doing a better job overall, but I agree there’s not much to choose from!

WithinAForestDark · 17/02/2021 19:41

Matt Hancock being considered the best Cabinet Minister is a sad indictment of the times.

As is so often said on the Relationships board - raise your bar.

Heyha · 17/02/2021 19:41

It's a low bar but I have to say he is growing on me slightly. He comes across as a human being, which is a step above a lot of them!

CoffeeRunner · 17/02/2021 19:42

Do you work in the NHS?

I do & happen to think Matt Hancock is an incompetent knob.

Rishi Sunak I would agree is the best of a bad lot at the moment.

ineedaholidaynow · 17/02/2021 19:44

Anyone seen Gavin Williamson, bearing in mind how important schools and education are. Not that he has anything useful to say when he does crawl out of his hole

Anniegetyourgun · 17/02/2021 19:45

Maybe you don't see so much of the others because they're busy getting on with the job instead of appearing on the telly. (OK, it's a stretch in some cases, but it's still possible.)

To be fair, circumstances currently dictate that we will be hearing more from the Health Secretary than anyone else. It doesn't mean the others are not doing anything, it means newspapers aren't paying much attention to them just now.

Rupertbeartrousers · 17/02/2021 19:45

Is Liz Truss a cabinet minister? she seems sensible and capable but you rarely hear much about her

Cpl1586407 · 17/02/2021 19:47

Why are there all these complimentary Matt Hancock threads, only last week or so there was a thread about his attractiveness Confused

Confused Grin I believe she is and she's terrible.

True I suppose Rishi Sunak is also okay. I agree it's a low bar! The rest of them are dire

Fair point. If we take the long view, Liz Truss has a far more important and challenging job compared with the others. Building trade relationships from scratch with every nation on earth is a big job.
VienneseWhirligig · 17/02/2021 19:51

Blimey. It comes to something when Liz Truss is described as capable and sensible... Matt Hancock, another DfE reject, does seem human. But I'm not sure if that's because he's out of his depth and it trying to appear more relatable in an attempt to not be ridiculed, or because he is truly caring. He didn't show much evidence of this side of his personality when he had an Education portfolio.

Anniegetyourgun · 17/02/2021 19:53

"He didn't show much evidence of this side of his personality"

Fixed that for you.

ThreeFeetTall · 17/02/2021 19:54

Shame Bojo sacked anyone experienced or competent before the last election.

I must have missed that one Shock I'm not Mrs Hancock honest, and certainly don't think he's attractive (sorry Matt) looks like an overgrown baby.

I was just thinking how useless the cabinet were mostly. He does at least seem like he's trying to do something.

Hmm to me Hancock is better than Sunak. Sunak has always been behind the curve. Eat out to help out was also a mistake.

Beaniecats · 17/02/2021 19:55

That's genuinely hilarious OP

You mean Liz Truss the trade minister, who refuses to comment on anything to do with post-Brexit trading matters?
isitfridayyet1 · 17/02/2021 19:55

He should be trying g to his job! It's about time too since 100k people have died under his watch. I really don't call that competence at all.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 17/02/2021 19:57

Rishi Sunak currently has the easiest job. Giving away taxpayers money is easy and makes you popular. He’ll ensure he’s in a new job when it’s time to implement austerity on steroids to pay for it all.

Timpeall · 17/02/2021 19:58

What's with all these Matt Hancock is ace threads. Is his mum on mumsnet?

ilovesooty · 17/02/2021 20:00

I think Sunak is positively dangerous and has no humanity whatsoever.

It’s easy to do a good job when dishing out the money, time will tell of if he’s any good.
FrankButchersDickieBow · 17/02/2021 20:12

He isn't human. He's borrowed the Tory book on 'how to act like a human'

I mean, what human have you seen sitting down like this

josieorange · 17/02/2021 20:17

That's hilarious FrankButchersDickieBow wtf is he doing
