Today I noticed my rabbit limping.Turns out she had cancer and was old.Trip to the vets and put to sleep. She was hopping around the garden with the male one for well over 6 yrs. With my cat too.
The whole yr I've been positive and cut back spending as I'm furloughed. I don't socialise really and my pets gave me great comfort. Now 3 have been PTS in under a year.
They were my reason to get up early in the absence of work.I am just fed up now. They all brought me great joy.I think the shitty weather isn't helping. Sorry for the self pityApologies to anyone who has lost a relative.
Aibu to feel really sick of this crap today, climb into bed and pull the covers over my head.!!

YANBU. That’s so sad whatsfor. Yes, have a day or two of grieving for your much loved pets. Remember the good times and the happy lives they had with you.
Then set about giving some more a loving home.

wintersdawn · 17/02/2021 17:14

I'm sorry you've had to go through this and no YANBU to tuck yourself up into bed for the rest of the day. Look after yourself and let yourself mourn. Sending hugs.

CattyCactus · 17/02/2021 17:16

Sorry to hear this Op.
YADNBU to climb back in bed and pull the covers over your head.
Take a cup of tea and a slice of cake with you.

Holothane · 17/02/2021 17:16

No you do 🫂 hugs.

Rainbowx · 17/02/2021 17:19

YANBU OP sorry for your loss I hope you can get a new bunny very soon, even though you cant replace her

whatisforteamum · 17/02/2021 17:34

Why do we love them so much.Yes I would love to rescue some more pets.I don't think dh or d's understand the joy and unconditional love they give.At least she was PTS instantly and didn't suffer.

I’ve lost 2 rabbits within the past 5 months, one in the summer and one just 3 weeks ago, they were 7.5 and very much loved, and I have been absolutely gutted by it.

I’m so sorry for your loss, they really do become a huge part of your life, I still check for them before I close any doors, and I can’t get used to just going straight up to bed without having to make sure the bunnies are ok.

Cleverpolly3 · 17/02/2021 17:59

Oh no goodness me it is very sad
Having been there as a pet owner I know the devastation it causes

You have a hug 🫂 from me too

ChillyB · 17/02/2021 17:59

So sorry for your loss. Binky free little bun over rainbow bridge.
I understand how you feel I lost my rabbit a few weeks ago and I miss him so much. He was nearly 11.

AmandaHugenkiss · 17/02/2021 18:05

YADNBU. I’d be heartbroken to lose 3 pets in a year. When my last dog died I grieved for a long time, and didn’t think I was ready for another pet until the accidental cat ended up moving in with me.

Your pets were very lucky to have you. Don’t feel bad at all if you need a duvet day today, or in the future.

whatisforteamum · 17/02/2021 20:36

Sassenachwitch we will definitely be checking she is away at night.I know it is silly to dote on them so much.My dd will find it odd when she pops home again when restrictions allow she loved the animals so much.
Thank you all and sorry for your losses.I knew kind mumsnetters would understand .My dm said we could've had pie.Typical of her.

@whatisforteamum how are you feeling today OP?

Dacquoise · 18/02/2021 18:12

@whatisforteamum, totally get it. Horrible to lose a furry friend, so sorry for your loss. I took two days off work last year when I had to say goodbye to one of my lovely mutts. Second day was a total duvet day on the sofa, crying and feeling thoroughly miserable about losing my fur face buddy. Felt so much better for letting myself 'wallow' and grieve him. Go for it.

whatisforteamum · 19/02/2021 10:49

Thank you all.I know it is feeble to feel so sad when people have lost loved ones.
I felt down all day despite being the positive one baking and keeping motivated all yr.
I did have a sleep then went for a walk and sat on a bench and cried which I never do.
Hearing the birds made me sad as they used to hop around with my bunnies in the garden.
I think unless you have pets you don't understand the joy they bring. They all had a happy life with us though.
Dacqouise sorry for your loss cats and dogs are true companions.

Flowers I lost a much loved rabbit to cancer a few years ago. I totally get you. They're lovely pets aren't they hopping around, being petted, asking for treats. They're so loved and so much missed when they're no longer with us. On top of this horrible pandemic it's no wonder you're feeling low at the moment. Have trust in each day making you feel better about your late bunny.

whatisforteamum · 19/02/2021 16:28

Thank you Rogueantimatter. They are and lockdown doesn't help.
