Some movie recommendations for a hangover day?

I'm really hungover this morning and have woken up with a cold also. I plan to stay in the house under a duvet all day (no commitments) and I need your best hangover films to watch, any genre except horror.

If I need to throw an AIBU in (I know people don't like non AIBU being posted on AIBU). AIBU for getting drunk as a skunk alone on a Tuesday night? BlushGrin

YANBU.

We watched Military Wives last week which was a nice gentle watch.

Dumplin'
Peanut Butter Falcon

That should get you through to this afternoon when the crippling headache kicks in and only sleep will do.

How about “The Hangover”?!

There’s also Hangover 2 and 3 if REALLY bad Grin

LagneyandCasey · 17/02/2021 09:13

We watched When Harry met Sally for the first time in at least 20 years the other day. I'd forgotten how great it is. So that's my recommendation Smile

SweepTheHalls · 17/02/2021 09:14

Chalet girl on Netflix

JalapenoCheeseOnToast · 17/02/2021 09:18

Can't remember why but Zoolander became the hangover movie of choice. In bed. Surrounded by food and paused for regular naps.

FFS people. I’m here for the moral judgement, not movie recommendations! Get on with it please.

Panicatthegarden · 17/02/2021 09:50

He's just not that into you - rom com/ chick flick vibes but really well done. Currently on prime.

Morning glory - heartwarming and easy to watch. Currently on Netflix.

Personally I think a film where you have a little cry is best on a hangover, giving those tearducts a workout really makes my eyes feel better Grin

The two films I've recommended above both make me (happy) cry but I've also been known to blub at McDonald's adverts so...

Alexindiamondarmour · 17/02/2021 09:54

Bridget Jones’ Diary is my suggestion. Get all snuggled up under your duvet and enjoy. With a big glass of water and also a can of Coke!

OP, do you know how inappropriate it is to get drunk, alone, mid-week?!

Have you got issues? Do you need counselling?

Are you stressed? Have you tried a spa day?

Are you worrying about money? Have you thought about taking in some ironing or selling all your worldly belongings on eBay?

Haven't got enough food? Thought about trying the Mumsnet chicken? Feeds a family of four for a week so you've got a months worth of meals there if you batch cook.

You'll never find the answer at the bottom of the bottle, deal with whatever it is head on FFS! The whole world is struggling right now - your hangover problems are minuscule compared to the GLOBAL PANDEMIC and these UNPRECEDENTED TIMES. Stop only thinking of yourself Hmm

I recommend The Proposal! Sandra Bullock is hilarious and Ryan Reynolds would not get kicked out of my bed for leaving crumbs Grin couple of painkillers and a pint of water will help too 👍🏻

DancesWithCatsnDogs · 17/02/2021 10:03

Penguine Bloom on Netflix - about a rescued Magpie and a Mum (Naomi Watts) who has a nasty accident. Sounds like a crap title but I was sobbing at the end. It's sure to make your hangover feel less significant! Enjoy.

saveahorse · 17/02/2021 11:01

@2021ComeAtMe 😂😂 love the proposal!!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone, they should do me today and any other subsequent hangover days Grin

The sweetest thing

It's a comedy

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/02/2021 14:58

I’d love to have a hangover day - no kids and no work!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/02/2021 14:58

What about the most recent film of Emma?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/02/2021 15:00

People who judge someone for getting drunk alone - what are those of us who live alone supposed to do in lockdown?

It was a good day when I realised I didn’t need someone else’s endorsement to have a drink!

Palavah · 17/02/2021 15:00

YABU to watch a film. I never have the attention span when hanging like a dog under the weather.

Singing in the Rain
Working Girl

BeatricePrior · 17/02/2021 17:08

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing

Love having a bottle of wine when my husband goes away for work. Haven't done it for ages obviously but I like the peace and quiet.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/02/2021 17:57

@BeatricePrior I like your username!

I’m single now, but this was a discovery i was happy to make before the divorce!

LaceyBetty · 17/02/2021 19:46

@BeatricePrior me too. I drink more when he's not around. Probably because I have the whole bottle to myself.
