Anyone ever sold a story to a newspaper?

Has anyone ever sold a story while claiming benefit? For reasons I won't go into on here I could potentially be getting paid for a story, I'm selling to the newspapers. Do I have to inform the DWP if and when this happens? I'm on ESA and housing benefit. The payment will not take me over 6k in savings

I'm not selling the story for cash but some serious issues I have been having with a building company. I don't want to potentially solve one problem just to create another one.

Get a contract. Most people give their stories away so make sure you get something in writing before giving them a quote.

I'd be surprised if you were paid for a public interest story like that unless you were sleeping with the CEO...

Sorry what I meant by that was I'm not interested in the money, I just want help with my problem and maybe those who are responsible will finally do something about it.

I hope you get what you want from this; try to maintain control and ensure things don;t get twisted.
If you've not negotiated a fee up front, probably unlikely that the newspaper will backtrack, but if it isn't the money that's important to you, dose that matter?

Can you tell me who the building developer is? We are having a lot of problems with a developer at the moment too.
