sick to the back teeth of fly tippers in my area so have printed and laminated some signs. i know they probably won't make much difference but it makes me feel better that i am trying

i need to stick them onto a brick wall, does anyone have recommendations for best way to do this to withstand the elements? i bought some gorilla tape but haven't tried it yet (going to do it tomorrow) but just wondered if anyone had any tips/ideas incase it doesn't work!

Nonails. Works a treat. Mention cctv, that seems to put them off, the fuckers. They’ve made a right mess along a field near me, I can’t understand why people think it’s ok to dump their shit in the countryside.

pinkfizzforme · 15/02/2021 23:18

oh i didn't even think of no more nails! i've just looked on amazon - do you recommend the tape or the original?

i've mentioned cctv and that all photos are being sent to the police - honestly i despise it so much, it makes me miserable and really affects my mental health which i know sounds dramatic but it's just awful having to live with it.

Well done for trying. Fly tippers are scum. I suggest No More Nails or similar.

We used to have a neighbour who would go through the dumped bags and often he would find evidence of who might've dumped it. He made up big signs with these people's names on to, hopefully, shame them while the local council were investigating.

Living on a lovely country lane was spoiled by dirty pig fly tippers.

pinkfizzforme · 15/02/2021 23:38

oh i am definitely going to get some no more nails - going to order it now and hold off doing the signs until it arrives, thank you for the tip!

i did do some signs late summer last year when i knew who had dumped it, i wrote on it 'dumped by 123 address' and we had no more fly tipping for months after! it's now started up again and i just wish i could find out where it is coming from so i can do the same signs, last time i knew as i saw them but this time the best i can do is vague threats of cctv and police

it angers me so much how people can be so lazy and selfish!

So countering fly tipping by fly posting

DottyWott · 16/02/2021 00:03

Is it your wall? It’s not clear. I wouldn’t use no more nails on a wall I didn’t own

Marinaloves · 16/02/2021 01:17

Put up a fake camera. Most people won’t risk it

Emeraldshamrock · 16/02/2021 01:22

Definitely install a fake camera to deter them it is really disgusting and disrespectful to you and the planet.

Screws and a baton.

Laminate may be hard to glue to (slippy and very flexible) so your sign is likely to end up as ironic waste on the ground.

2 holes through the paper, 2 holes and plugs in the wall, stick a bit of wood over the front of the paper and screw through the holes to the plug.

Will be held tight and straight and will be retained as it deteriorates

Createsuser · 16/02/2021 07:08

I’ve heard gorilla glue works well Grin

heidbuttsupper · 16/02/2021 07:15

Gorilla double sided tape. No damage to wall either

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 16/02/2021 08:34

I bought some 'weatherproof' tape from Wilkinson's a few years ago when my car window fell down into the door. It kept the plastic in place really well until I got it mended, in quite bad weather.
