They are quite expensive but look gorgeous and I love the bright colours. Does anyone have one? Good, bad, indifferent?

From memory I found Loaf quite low.

brownet · 15/02/2021 22:12

couldn't!

Prufrocks · 15/02/2021 22:15

My aunt mutters threats and stares daggers at her loaf sofa.

Apparently the cushions slide off and require constant plumping.

Bellabelloo · 15/02/2021 22:16

They are low to the ground. You have to pay extra for longer legs. I wish I had...

I prefer my sofa.com sofas.

seven201 · 15/02/2021 22:18

I bought one but then sent it back as I just didn't love it and I didn't like the plumping required - I like a firm foam I've decided.

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 15/02/2021 22:19

I bought a sofa without sitting on it but it was from SofaSofa, who have a 21-day guarantee and will come and pick it up for free and refund you if it isn’t right so the risk was minimal. I highly recommend them. If you are anywhere near South Wales they do have a showroom although of course it’s closed at the moment.

FlamingoQueen · 15/02/2021 22:25

We’ve been looking at sofas online, but have just decided to wait until we can try them out. Loaf are one of the brands I want to look at, however, I also have a bad back so they would need to be comfy. Loaf do actually have a 14 day trial period, where they say they’ll either swap the sofa or just take it away (says it on their website) in case that helps you?

JackieeWeaver · 15/02/2021 22:27

We ordered new sofas online in the first lockdown - without seeing or sitting on them - don't do it! Can't wait for normality to resume so we can go and test some and find what we actually want. Don't do it, I can't believe we were so naive, never again Hmm

hulahooper2 · 15/02/2021 22:28

I would never buy one online unless I had tried it in person first

CheapLeggings · 15/02/2021 22:31

I ordered a Made sofa online and had to send it back as was so uncomfortable. Will never buy again without trying in person, so I'd recommend waiting till shops reopen.

bunhead34 · 15/02/2021 22:34

Does anyone have a sofa.com bluebell?
I don't want to wait weeks for the shops to open!
Plus Im quite pregnant and may not even get to the shops when they do open 😭

DinoDisco · 15/02/2021 22:39

I started off my recent sofa hunt saying I would never get a loaf one because they often look low down, too squishy and like they won't wear well.

Went around all the alternative sofa shops and just couldn't find one we liked. All too solid and formal, not the right fabric, wrong size etc.

Ended up in loaf. Loved most of them. Found there are styles which aren't so low down, all so comfy, come in loads of fabrics including 'clever' ones with insurance which wash well. Bought a squisharoo and no regrets.

Not sure I'd buy online without checking though. Although Loaf have long wait times so you could order the one you want, go and try it when the shops open and then cancel the order if you hate it.

jamidays · 15/02/2021 22:40

I wouldn't buy a sofa without sitting on it tbh. Too much of a gamble. You'll be surprised how many factors can impact your decision, depth of sit, firmness, texture of the fabric, the colour of the fabric always looks diff on screen..

79andnotout · 15/02/2021 22:41

We have one. We specifically got it because it was low and deep - I live in a cottage so wanted something that wasn't high as you walked into the room, and it needed to be super deep as we have two greyhounds and two cats and they're proper sofa hoggers so we need maximum sofa. I can't remember which one it is but it's covered in that tangerine clever velvet which is easy to clean dirty paw prints off. We went to the wilmslow showroom and tried them out first.

I have five sofas in my house from sofa.com, M&S, John Lewis and the loaf sofa is the most comfortable.

OwBist · 15/02/2021 22:46

I was about to press the button to buy, but did a double check on sizes and it wouldn't have gone through my internal doors. I had the same problem with sofas and stuff. Went with sofasofa in the end - half the price, similar designs, quicker delivery times. Not the range of colours / fabrics that the others have, but I can get them into the room, which is a bonus. Smile

GlamGloria · 15/02/2021 22:46

If you buy a loaf sofa you need to order the tall legs. Otherwise they're just too low off the ground

EmotionallyEncumbered · 15/02/2021 22:48

@bunhead34 I do, it drives me insane, looks fabulous for ten minutes after I've spent half an hour plumping up the cushions, but they sag again within minutes and you end up with an unsupportive lumpy back cushion and a big dip where your bum has been. Wouldn't buy again. We also have the Snowdrop, but I find that too firm.

May favourite most comfortable sofa was multiyork, lasted 15 years before the covers finally wore down, wish I'd just got it recovered as sadly multiyork no longer exist.

bunhead34 · 16/02/2021 10:44

@EmotionallyEncumbered oh no! Is yours feather filled? We don't want feathers so maybe that would make a difference.

Also tempted to just go good old DFS!

EmotionallyEncumbered · 16/02/2021 11:00

@bunhead34 it is feather filled, and I think it would be better if they weren't, but not sure you get the option? If you do, go for the one without!

My Multiyork stuff is still going strong 22 years on (and they were ex display). They made absolutely the best sofas ever. Some of the staff from Multiyork have set up another company making covers for all their sofas and chairs - just in case yours is in a garage or something.

CounsellorTroi · 16/02/2021 11:19

They don’t sound good for short people who actually want to be able to lean back and have their back supported.

ThanksItHasPockets · 16/02/2021 11:22

@Campions would you by any chance have the name of the ex-Multiyork company? We have a wonderful sofa bed from them which is still going strong after eleven years but it would be fab to mix up the covers. Thank you.

ThanksItHasPockets · 16/02/2021 11:24

Incidentally: this has come up on the property / home boards before but if you are keen on Loaf then there is a shop in Bury St Edmunds called Direct Furniture which sells on a lot of ex-display at reduced prices. If you message their FB page they will send you a current stock list. Trade Secret also periodically get Loaf sofas, as well as JL, M&S etc.

Campions · 16/02/2021 11:25

Of course, here you go:

Trisolaris · 16/02/2021 11:28

I love the cloud sofa from loaf, I remember as others are saying that a lot of their other sofas were too low. You definitely have to go to the showroom and try them out.
