@AlwaysLatte

Because people are more educated these days.
Really, I think most people are ignorant of the existence of arguments/debates about God in ethics and philosophy. The argument's are strong and entirely based on logical premises.

Obviously this upsets the subjective beings among us, paper intellect is now well distributed is society. However despite a surge in university level education. Rational logical reasoning and understanding of ethics, duties, etc, has given way to rights, demands and subjectivisms.

@HollyGoLoudly1

"Of course I do not think the Jews brought the Holocaust on themselves"

Then why cite the holocaust as an example of "genocide caused by religion" ??

Instead of accusing me of 'spin' and 'avoidance tactics' (which are spurious BTW) why not own your attempt to hijack this thread to promote your own agenda of agressive secularism? (Which is nothing to do with the OP's original question)

Puffn, yes I agree.

DD studied philosophy but I have not. I am well aware that there are robust arguments for and against the existence of God. I don’t see any need to rehash them on the internet in a less comprehensible manner.

I do think it is interesting to hear about why people have or have not left a religion though.

The world isn't a great advert for god, to be honest, it?

It certainly isn't a great advert for human beings...

Spot on. The planet would benefit from our extinction.
@HollGoLoudly1

"Religion should not be part of government."

How is it part of government?

And if so, what should it be replaced with ?
We have a state religion and the head of state is also the head of the c of e.

@onesixseven,
Lizzy just rubber-stamps what parliament sends her way, so she's hardly a mover & shaker in government. I don't believe that she has ever refused to give a Bill Royal Assent.

We have 28 bishops who sit in the house of Lords out of about 800 Members. They hardly have a lot of clout, so I don't see what the problem is?
