I’m a carer for my adult child with mental conditions. I’m under 50 however.

Unpaid carers are now group 6 so hopefully you will get called very soon.

Yes you are. You need to register with your gp that you are a carer. Do it ASAP. I’ve been invited for my vaccine (also a carer to my child).

zigzagbetty · 14/02/2021 11:59

If you receive carers allowance is this automatic that you are in cat 6?

Allthenumbers · 14/02/2021 12:00

You don’t need to be in receipt of carers allowance. But you do need to register with your gp.

Haffdonga · 14/02/2021 12:03

Yes, in cohort 6. You need to ensure that your GP's record show you are a carer.

I'm 66 and a carer for my husband. He had his 1st jab 3 weeks ago, and I asked if I could get mine at the same time. Answer was no, but I got it yesterday. (My GP surgery is doing it themselves, so I don't know if that makes a difference)
Menora · 14/02/2021 13:28

You have to tell your surgery so that they can code you as a carer

zigzagbetty · 14/02/2021 14:48

It's my DH who gets carers allowance, I'll get him to ring the gp tomorrow Smile
