I live in a flat on the ground floor and there is around 16 flats all together. A new build estate was built around 2 years ago directly next to us and ever since we have had issues with drains frequently being blocked. It never use to happen until they were built. The man hole is right outside my kitchen window. Every time it's happened I've just phoned the water company and they have come out and unblocked it. My next door neighbour had the same issue a couple of days ago however mine wasn't blocked so they came out and fixed hers (so I'm not sure if the blockage has just been moved along). I noticed it was blocked this morning as it was overflowing into my garden and I could smell it so I phoned the water company around 10am. They have still not been out to fix it!! I got a phone call around 3pm to ask if they could come tomorrow as they'd been really busy and I said "no sorry as it was disgusting and the smell was lingering in my flat" (not sure if they would appreciate their garden overflowing with sewerage). They said ok and would get back to me. Haven't heard anything since. AIBU to expect them to sort it on the same day? Surely it's a health hazard?

The EHO's should be on a rota. Get onto your Councillor, MP etc. It sounds like pressure needs to be put in the water company's from all directions. Shit in your garden, is not on.
