Need ideas from women smarter than me.

Car key is one of those that just needs to be in the car to start.

I know the stupid twatting thing is in there for that reason plus I couldn’t find it before I went in the house after a now regretted trip to the shop.

I have emptied it. Completely. Kids Car seats included. But it’s nowhere to be seen.

It defies logic and ashamed to say Iv had a bit of a cry. 2 hours out of my working day.

Ideas?

I bet it was under the drivers seat. I lost a house key there once and just couldn't get it out. Had to have the locks changed. Then after about a month of driving around it just slid out into the back seat footwell. Sigh.

@AryaStarkWolf Just reread thread - I had no idea you could get "keys" that you didn't need to put in the ignition! Shock

My car isn't that old! (maybe a bit basic to have that option?)

Snowwaiting · 12/02/2021 17:06

Is it dropped under the car

Gemma2019 · 12/02/2021 17:08

I did this recently - it had fallen into the stupid hole beside the gear stick, which I have now blocked up with a black sock.

tonyharrisonboosh · 12/02/2021 17:13

This happened to me. Turns out I had dropped it and it landed under the next door neighbours work van!

SparkysMagicPiano · 12/02/2021 17:13

@Snowwaiting

Is it dropped under the car
No.

She found it at least half an hour before you posted.

Not helpful but I hate those keys. Always losing it. Plus we were thinking today if they ever fall into water we're screwed!!

borageforager · 12/02/2021 17:40

We spent ages bemused by the fact the car was sometimes unlocked before we realised that our missing 2nd key was in the beach bag that sometimes was in the car & sometimes wasn’t.

ParlezVousWronglais · 12/02/2021 18:07

I don’t understand this thread. Keys with no locks. Nakedness. A big thank you to everyone. Has anything happened and has it been resolved?

Icandothis123 · 12/02/2021 18:15

@MindGrapes yes they are terrible. We had an old style one and when it broke, a replacement cost more than the actual car was worth. It was the final straw and we scrapped the car Grin

Crappyfridays7 · 12/02/2021 18:17

I have a credit card style ‘key’ for mine and I used to lose it all the time now it’s got lots of key rings and a tracker on it.
Last time I lost it it was down the back of my seat - it’s a coupe so they slide forward and push over so was in the material between seats. Time before that - the fridge!
Am hopeless!

So easy to do when distracted. I am dyslexic so lots of strategies to stop myself losing important stuff (as I’m hopeless) I say “the keys are in the front pocket of my bag” or wherever

Hope they turn up op

SnarkyBag · 12/02/2021 18:19

If it makes you feel better I spent a long time trying to find my phone in a restaurant bathroom once. I knew it was there somewhere as I could hear it ringing when my friend phoned it. A nice waitress eventually realised it was down the back of my Ugg boots. It had fallen out of my back trouser pocket and into my boot when I pulled my trousers down to go to the loo Blush

ajandjjmum · 12/02/2021 18:53

@AryaStarkWolf

I like mine but I have a strict system of always leaving it in the same pocket of my bag.

My Mum always used to say that - normally when I was hunting around for my keys. 'I always keep them in the back pocket of my handbag, and then I know exactly where to find them.....' Bless her!
