To think that you don’t put your dog’s shit in someone’s newly-emptied bin?

Just been to get the wheelie bin in after it’s been emptied. Opened it to check it is empty and it is...save for the bag of dog shit that some passing dog owner has kindly thrown in.

When we put our heavy bin bags in there that bag will burst and smear shit all over the bottom of our bin and the bin will stink and need to be cleaned out and disinfected. I know this, because it’s happened before without us realising.

Before anyone suggests this, no, I don’t think they should just throw it on the ground. I do think that they should either use public bins, or better still take it home and put it in their own bin.

When I pick up my dogs poo from the lawn it goes in a poo bag and then in my main bin and I’ve never had an issue with the bags bursting and getting smeared on the inside of the bin. And at 2 plus poos every day and having owned dogs for 16 years I’m sure if it was going to happen it would have by now.

We have so much trouble with people not clearing up after their dogs locally that I’d be happy if they slung their bag in my bin instead of walking away.

YANBU - it's totally out of order to put your dog crap in someone else's bin. I always carry mine either home or to the nearest public dog pooh bin. It's not hard.

ChazP · 11/02/2021 17:08

Ewww! YANBU.
I thought it’s technically an offence to dump rubbish in someone else’s domestic bin.

ladyvimes · 11/02/2021 17:08

Yuck that is disgusting! Why is it so hard for some dog owners to take their poo bags home with them?!

EerieSilence · 11/02/2021 17:09

It's disgusting. Our poo bags always come with us and into the main bin. I'd probably kill anyone trying to do that to us.

TinyCake · 11/02/2021 17:09

Ew

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 11/02/2021 17:11

I had several skips on my drive due to renovating the house. I counted 20 bags of shit in the one - would I throw shit on their drive? No yanbu!

sunflowersandbuttercups · 11/02/2021 17:11

YANBU.

Dog walker here. Poo bags go in public bins or in my own black bin at home or at the owners' homes.

Nohomemadecandles · 11/02/2021 17:12

I would have no issue with a bagged up dog poo in my bin.

I have never disinfected the inside of my wheelie bin. What do people do inside their bins?

LST · 11/02/2021 17:12

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. But understand why it would bother others.

Put a sticker on your bin saying 'no poo please'

Spidey66 · 11/02/2021 17:16

Id rather it went in my bin than stayed on the pavement

OrigamiOwl · 11/02/2021 17:17

Have you considered a gravity bin lock?

Shoppingwithmother · 11/02/2021 17:19

Well, Nohomemadecandles, someone has done this before and got dog shit in the bottom of my bin, which stank, so that’s why it was cleaned with disinfectant...to get the stink and the disgusting shit out. I’m not some weird disinfectant-obsessed person (by any means!).

The bins only get emptied once a fortnight as well, so it’s annoying that within an hour of it being emptied there’s now dog poo in there for 2 weeks.

No origamiowl, I’ve never heard of one, but I’ll look it up!
