Not as exciting as it sounds, I'm afraid!
I keep getting a shooting pain down there which only lasts a matter of seconds but it's like an electric shock and it really hurts.
I remember having this when pregnant, but I am definitely not pregnant right now. I do have some back pain and hip pain, though, so I am wondering if it's a pinched nerve?? Starting to get a bit worried now and I can't go to the GP as I am shielding due to being a carer.
Thanks!

You do t have kidney stones by any chance? That was the feeling I got just before I passed a stone

aibusux2u · 10/02/2021 09:51

No, no kidney stones but a bit of constipation.

I got this a lot when pregnant. It still happens occasionally, not sure why. I don't really think about it too much. I do suffer from bowel problems - I see you mentioned constipation so the two could well be connected.

I have endometriosis and get this all the time.

IReallyNeedMoreGin · 10/02/2021 10:25

I get it from time to time. I run and workout a lot so just assume I've strained something!

BaggoMcoys · 10/02/2021 10:27

I started getting this when I was a teenager and didn't get pregnant until age 26. I thought it was one of those things that happens to every woman sometimes. I assumed it was connected to periods/ovulation or something.

aibusux2u · 10/02/2021 10:32

@BaggoMcoys Do you only get it at certain times of the month then? I had it last on 23 Jan but then I have had it every day for the past 3 days so I am getting worried as it seems like it's not cyclical for me.

Yes! I had that between the ages of 8 and 18 (ish!). I spent most of my childhood terrified I was dying but didn't have a close enough relationship with anyone to ask them why I was in so much pain.

It used to come on in waves and I would have to lie down and curl up in a ball. It would often keep me awake for hours. Still have no idea what caused it and I've never had it again in 15 years.

KevinSausage · 10/02/2021 13:19

I get it when ovulating or on my period (but I call them fanny daggers)

aibusux2u · 10/02/2021 14:37

@KevinSausage fanny daggers - exactly! Are they just really brief, like a couple of seconds and then nothing for days/weeks?

I haven't noticed that it happens at a certain time of the month because I don't get them every single month, but I just assumed cycle related because of the location.

aibusux2u · 10/02/2021 16:19

Thanks.

Will try not to panic!

Yes, i used to get these during periods so assumed it was related to that as no health problems and had 2 uneventful pregnancies.

Yes exactly, enough to make me sit up and inhale sharply, but then it's gone

ZoeTurtle · 10/02/2021 17:37

I get these and have never been pregnant. It's nothing like the pain of a kidney stone (had a few of those) and I'm pretty sure I don't have piles.
