Where do you shop for your little ones wardrobe?

I'm lucky that I get a fair amount of hand me downs, but I try and get most other stuff from the charity shops (when open). If not I get from the supermarket.

Mybobowler · 09/02/2021 08:59

I'm surprised at how many people are saying that JoJo wash well. I love their designs but they fade and shrink terribly. Their lambswool "wash me at 30" cardigans are my nemesis.

My daughter's clothes are mostly Sainsbury's, H&M and eBay. I really like Boden and JoJo coats but I only buy them second hand. I'd love for her to be always beautifully dressed but she's two and filthy by about 10am every day.

VestaTilley · 09/02/2021 08:59

Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrison’s, Next, M&S, Clark’s and Primark - supermarkets for vests, hats, socks, gloves, baby gro’s, jogging bottoms, wellies and t-shirts; M&S for nicer outfits and coats/snow suits, and I find their sleeping bags, vests and baby gro’s are a bit thicker, so get some from there each winter. Have also bought tops and a coat at Next, formerly vests too when I have a voucher. Primark do some nice plain jumpers (I don’t generally put DS in hoodies and I don’t like slogans on clothes if I can avoid them). Clark’s for proper shoes.

I dress DS fairly traditionally - cord trousers (though joggers for nursery), nice long sleeved t-shirt and wool jumper most days. I buy a nice outfit (shirt, cord trousers and jumper or cardi) for Christmas/weddings etc.

VestaTilley · 09/02/2021 09:01

I’d never buy from somewhere more expensive than M&S or John Lewis, I can’t afford it and don’t see the point when we’re not going anywhere or seeing anyone, and they grow out of them so quickly. He’s always nicely turned out.

Forgot to say I do buy jumpers and coats at a John Lewis if we’ve been given a voucher by someone.

MangoM · 09/02/2021 09:03

@WellPlayed

Judging from the other responses I'm a tight arse then Grin Predominantly I buy from Sainsbury's and Asda, sometimes Boots. I have dungarees from M&S too as they often do 3 for 2 on items. I also have bought more expensive items (snowsuit from Debenhams) but second hand from FB. The most expensive thing I do buy is Clarks shoes and they fit and wear so well I don't begrudge it.
I was thinking exactly the same. We mostly buy from Next, Boots, Asda, Morrisons. I'm a little put off Asda recently as we've had a few seams rip on the first wear.

We've also picked up a few nice bits from TkMaxx but it takes a while to sift through the racks and the sizing is naturally a little hit and miss with the mixture of brands.

SquigglePigs · 09/02/2021 09:03

Tu and H&M for nursery clothes or odd bit picked up in Tesco or Morrisons but they don't deliver. Then Next for non-nursery stuff. I like Next's dresses - they're so comfy and she loves them. Also a few pairs of Blade and Rose leggings - they're a bit expensive but they wash well and they're very warm and comfy.

We did buy some stuff from M&S when we were given a voucher for them and although the clothes are good quality our 2 yr old said the arms were tight and refused to wear them long before she grew out of any other clothes in that size range so I think the cut doesn't suit her body shape. Their pyjamas are very nice though and she's still wearing those.

strawberriesunited · 09/02/2021 10:23
@strawberriesunited Yes they bobble, I've had a few of that type from there and elsewhere and they all end up looking quite bobbly after a wash or two. I wash on a low heat and don't tumble dry either. I think it's just the nature of some fabrics really. They seem so comfy though. I've had Frugi etc go the same way on some of their jersey items. I've also bought my own fabric and made up some clothes and some have bobbled quicker than others, normally the best quality seem to be the first to go.
Ah thanks! I'll give it a miss thenSmile

PurpleRobe · 09/02/2021 10:24

Joules, boden, next

But my absolute fave is polarnopyret.co.uk

They have the best overall "range" like organic babygrows but also amazing coats and winter overalls

The clothes last forever

PurpleRobe · 09/02/2021 10:28

@strawberriesunited

Yeah the Blade & Rose leggings bubbled quickly for me too. Shame as they are sooooo cute.

The polarn o pyret ones wash very well

namechanger247334 · 09/02/2021 10:44

@TwirpingBird Not common as muck! Are your children clothed? Yes! Then it doesn't matter what brands they wear, I was just curious so I started the thread x

Facebook marketplace, eBay, gap, George, Boots.

Always looking for a sale as toddlers don't care what they wear so it makes 0 sense to spend excess money on them.

Skigal86 · 09/02/2021 10:56

Jojo and Frugi usually second hand or in the sales. I’d have to really love something to pay full price!

M&S and John Lewis for basics like leggings and jersey dresses. John Lewis sales in store can be really good when they are open.

Boden and Joules from their warehouse sales.

Basically pricier stuff that I don’t have to pay full price for 😂

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 09/02/2021 11:06

Sainsburys for basics. John lewis, m&s, jojo maman bebe, sometimes boden. I give my kids a choice though. I absolutely detest the pale grey, leopard print and muted colours of the "cool" kids fashion brands like marmar and konges slojd, because they just look like parents imposing adult styles/themes and they are often quite gendered colour palates.

I've never yet met a 3 year old that chooses rust, cream, brown, mustard or dusty pinks over bright primary colours. I let my son choose and he loves bright red and royal blue.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 09/02/2021 11:08

I'm surprised at how many people are saying that JoJo wash well. I love their designs but they fade and shrink terribly. Their lambswool "wash me at 30" cardigans are my nemesis.

DD has two of these (shes nearly 18m). I wash them on a delicates cold wash with persil wool detergent and they are absolutely fine, no shrinking or felting.

SospanFrangipan · 09/02/2021 11:41

Matalan & Asda mainly. Primark for some things like joggers for school (3 y/o in nursery school). Just spent £80 on things from matalan, he's growing like nobody's business so I refuse to spend £££££s on clothes, especially with nowhere to go!

Halloweiner · 09/02/2021 22:39

H&M, River Island, Zara, Matalan, Next, Tu at Sainsbury's, Gap, Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike

Sceptre86 · 10/02/2021 14:24

For dd I buy her coats from the monsoon sale and get her 5-6 fancy dresses for parties. Dd loves dressing up and choosing them with me. For day to day wear they mostly wear next (purchased in the sales) or h&m. For ds I tend to shop at jojo, boden, fruggi and kite as they have very bright coloured clothes for boys with applique. For day to day I will buy ds clothes from next or h&m. For ds's fancier clothes I will go to Ralph Lauren and Selfridges. I get the basics such as socks, vests and undies from Asda for both kids.

When ds was born I got given a load of primary clothes as a gift from sil, whilst I quite liked some of the designs they didn't wash well or last long. I would rather pay that bit more for clothes that wash well and that the kids will get more wear out of.

TheGoogleMum · 10/02/2021 14:28

Morrisons, asda and sainsburys. Occasionally primary or matalan but it isn't as convenient for em as a supermarket. M&S but they're a bit expensive for me to use often. 2nd hand bundles on Facebook marketplace and ebay, 2nd hand baby sales when we were allowed to gather in groups (run by places like nct). I like the posher clothes too but I'm not made of money and they only wreck them

Thedarknightsarelifting · 10/02/2021 14:35

M&S, John Lewis, TU Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Next, Monsoon, JoJo and local independents for brands like Mayoral, Sarah Louise etc

Thedarknightsarelifting · 10/02/2021 14:35

Oh and Morrisons!

cerealgamechanger · 10/02/2021 19:02

Mostly Frugi, Kite, Little Green Radicals, Gap, M&S, John Lewis but also Next, Asda/Tesco for nursery clothes. I also invest in few foreign brands because their quality is amazing. I'm very fussy with what my DC wear and do get a bit carried away. Some of the DCs old clothes look brand new and I find it really hard to part with them.

cerealgamechanger · 10/02/2021 19:04

Oh and a firm favourite for all outdoor gear and jeans is Polarn O Pyret- they last forever!

Username12353784 · 10/02/2021 19:11

Mainly sainsburys tbh.
