Where do you shop for your little ones wardrobe?

M&S and Sainsbury’s for vests and plain onesies. Gap, John Lewis, Next for regular / everyday clothes. And then I have a few fancier things from Joules, Trotters and House of Margaux.

I also really like Lindex for vests - they’re cross body in lovely patterns and very soft fabrics.

AnnaSW1 · 09/02/2021 08:18

Frugi, monsoon, M&S, gap

BakewellGin1 · 09/02/2021 08:21

I refuse to spend a fortune on some of the overpriced stores mentioned, as my theory is... Babies like to crawl around the floor, when my toddler goes out and about he likes to explore (read play in mud, puddles, sand, the sea - depending where we go)

The majority at the moment is Next (because it has been bought for Christmas/Birthday) however we tend to switch between Next, Asda and a few bits from M&S, TU, Primark...

He always looks tidy, clean and well dressed (until he plays with his sticks and mud ha ha)

WetJan · 09/02/2021 08:23

Almost entirely supermarkets. Same for me. Only exceptions are DH's jeans (next) and DD's shoes (Clarks).
I would love to have DD in nice clothes but she lives in hand me downs, which the styles don't always suit my taste, or multipacks for ease.

KarlUrbansWife · 09/02/2021 08:26

Sainsbury's, H&M and Matalan for every day. Boden and Jojo Maman Bebe for nicer wear. I have to say though, the quality of Jojo clothes has gone downhill a lot in recent years. I'm definitely buying far less from there than I used to.

theruffles · 09/02/2021 08:26

I get a lot of things from eBay (John Lewis, Jojo, Boden, Next, Little Bird) because I prefer the prices instead of buying new. I like TU, Asda, M&S and H&M for casual things and Primark for basics like vests and tights. I also quite like hunting things down in charity shops when they're open.

Jent13c · 09/02/2021 08:27

First baby mostly supermarket. Tesco is my favourite. I have skinny babies and I can't stand too much material that gets caught up when they are crawling. Tu has never fitted either child which is a shame as they have lovely stuff and my MIL shops there so often picks up stuff in sale. Love Gap but we dont have one for 200 miles. Jojo not really my style but appreciate the quality is good. I've got a random velour long sleeved polo from mayoral which was second hand that was literally perfect for days out, looked smart but super comfy. Also had a cardi from lidls that was worn weekly and has lasted both boys.

Its such a personal thing, me and my SIL swapped clothes for the boys but basically handed them straight back! She loves little checked shirts and bright chinos and had a million of those little bright coloured all in ones that are shorts and t shirt and mine are mostly neutrals with occasional blue, mostly leggings or jeans and a jumper. Jeans are always primark as they always have the elasticated waist pull in.

AdultierAdult · 09/02/2021 08:33

I buy secondhand clothes bundles from vinted and everything else in big packs from wherever has good stock and will deliver to NI (M&S and ASDA). Mixture of being lazy and not inclined to spend £££ on something that'll be grown out of soon. With my first I dressed her head to toe in lovely expensive brands, but I was a young mum and insecure. Now I don't care as long as baby is cosy.

sundowners · 09/02/2021 08:36

H&M for lovely basics- always have a 3 for 2 offer on and gorgeous prints for girls summer dresses at fab prices- a dress for £2.99 /lovely designs for boys t-shirts & hoodies

Zara Kids- usually wait for the sale but gorgeous clothes

Gap Kids- again with a discount code

Tu Sainsburys

Username7521 · 09/02/2021 08:37

All second hand from ebay.
Mostly Boden, next, gap and Zara. They seem to last the best for second hand stuff.
I have some Boden stuff that’s still in amazing condition even after their second or third recipient

GameSetMatch · 09/02/2021 08:40

everything is from Next, it’s cheap and cheerful apart from school uniform which is bought from M&S.

Livinghereisok · 09/02/2021 08:40

When babies/toddlers bundles off Ebay (lots are nearly new), friends hand me downs, and the odd special thing from Next, supermarket, Boots.

Once they get to about 4 years I found the second hand clothes were more well worn as kids growth slows down so I guess they wear clothes for longer. Then I started to buy more new stuff from Primark, H&M and supermarkets.

I always buy new, good quality outdoor wear, I recently discovered Alex and Alexa in the sale for walking boots/water proof stuff (they do also sell a lot of extortionate designer clothes I would never buy), Mountain Warehouse etc. Always buy new, fitted shoes in an independent shoe shop near us.

namechanger247334 · 09/02/2021 08:42

I buy my little ones clothes from next (only when there's a sale as I find it too pricey otherwise), Tesco (not much but they had 50% off a while ago), Tu (love their stuff and at such good prices, although I sometimes wait for the 25% off), and second hand through Facebook (love Jojo and boden but refuse to pay their expensive prices)
Basically what I'm getting at is I like stuff that's in the sale, don't like paying full price for anything, which is probably why I'm in the mess that my child has too many clothes because I can't resist a bargain!

Gap, H&M, John Lewis (sales), JoJo (sales), Sainsbury's Tu, George at Asda, Frugi (sales). I used to love the Little Bird range at mothercare when my eldest was little - you can still buy second hand on ebay.

Moominmama5 · 09/02/2021 08:45

Morrisons / Sainsbury’s
Boots mini club / M & S
Frugi / JoJo / John Lewis / Toby Tiger (sales where possible)

Etsy - had some lovely hand made dungarees / dresses that are a bit different.
Local markets also good for this when possible.

Have recently bought some lovely things on eBay (previously bought the odd thing in charity shop - to the horror of some until I pointed out hotels don’t provide new towels and bedding for them!)

Trotters - has never heard of it but was given a beautiful dress and coat as a gift (classic but £££)

Moominmama5 · 09/02/2021 08:46

Yes! Little bird! What a miss. I had hoped Boots would start selling this.

ThatDreamSheep · 09/02/2021 08:47

For my baby girl I love H&M, Matalan, Tu, Next and M&S. She seems to be staying dinky and only just going into 9-12 months now at 18 months old so is getting her wear. My boy is 4 and going into 6 year old clothing so he gets mainly H&M, Matalan, George and Primark!

TwirpingBird · 09/02/2021 08:48

Primark all the way (when open). Some jumpers from H&M, basics from morrisons or asda during lockdown. The only brand I would spend on is Regatta for a decent waterproof puddle suit. My DD wears hers nearly every day.

If you have any friends in ireland Dunnes do gorgeous kids clothes. It's a supermarket.

I dont see the logic in spending loads on kids clothes. They get muddy, food dropped on them, milk spilled in them. Babies just puke and poo on everything, and it last 12 weeks max. Cheapy cheap for me.

TwirpingBird · 09/02/2021 08:49

Reading this thread I see I am definitely common as muck with the clothes I put my kids in 😕

Imapotato · 09/02/2021 08:53

When mine were small it would be Tesco, Asda or primark for every day.
Next or M&S for a few nicer bits and the occasional Boden thrown in (not often and only in the sale)

I never saw the point of spending a lot on clothes that would invariably be either out grown or permanently stained with in a few months.

lljkk · 09/02/2021 08:54

Was always charity shops & poundland for me.

lljkk · 09/02/2021 08:54

oh... and jumble sales.
In pandemic time, I'd be browsing Facebook marketplace I guess.

wowier · 09/02/2021 08:55

I bought a few baby bits from Primark but found the quality really bad. Whereas other brands I've passed down to siblings.

Imapotato · 09/02/2021 08:55

Don’t worry, I was the same. My mix would have also included some second hand from car boot sales or charity shops!

Dds are now teens and have not suffered for wearing cheap clothes as tots.

Rosehassometoes · 09/02/2021 08:55

Leggings and cardigans: Next, H and M or Tu.
Long sleeved ribbed tops for winter layers and under dresses: Next.
Summer tops and shorts: Next, H and M, Tu or eBay.
Dresses and skirts: eBay.
Pants and vests and socks and tights: Next.
Shoes and boots: Clarks or independent shoe shop, but usually get leather sandals from Next.
Coats: Landsend or Next.
