Where do you shop for your little ones wardrobe?

DS is only a newborn but mainly John Lewis & Next sales and when H&M and Lindex do 20% off.

He’s got enough clothes to now last till he’s 1, but as he gets older, probably will get hand me downs from his cousins - plus my mum will continue to buy him half of M&S each week.

ThePants999 · 09/02/2021 06:48

Facebook Marketplace. Young kids don't need their clothing to be new.

BumbleNova · 09/02/2021 06:55

John Lewis, m&s, Boden and I really like superlove Merino which is a great British brand.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/02/2021 06:56

Frugi, Kite, LGR and Maxamorra mainly. Some John Lewis. I get a fair bit second hand on brand specific Facebook sites but it is getting harder as he gets older as clothes get worn out before they are outgrown so I am buying more and more new.

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 09/02/2021 07:02

Really trying to reduce carbon footprint of us all so buy second hand everything, eBay mostly.

My go to brands are Zara, Next, Ralph Lauren as they all have excellent resale quality and value. I also like ethical brands like Mori when they’re little.

alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse · 09/02/2021 07:02

I tend to buy leggings and joggers from Petit Bateau (always in the sale), tops and jumpers from Zara and everything else (PJs, socks etc) from M&S.

Nix2020 · 09/02/2021 07:02

Mostly next as I like the sizing and the stuff washes well. Gap I found quite small sizes so tend not to buy much from there. Favourite brand is mayoral but it's expensive so tend to buy onsale or Facebook market place

alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse · 09/02/2021 07:03

Oh, and this year I bought a few bits in the Polarn Y Pyret sale and they are such good quality I'll probably do that again.

problembottom · 09/02/2021 07:03

Zara and Next for every day. Clarks for shoes. Boden for winter coats, Hatley for raincoats.

I love dressing DD, she’s 2 and I figure it won’t be long before she has an opinion so I’m enjoying myself in the meantime. I try to get a discount, sale shop or I buy from Vinted. Hate paying full price!

winniesanderson · 09/02/2021 07:05

@strawberriesunited Yes they bobble, I've had a few of that type from there and elsewhere and they all end up looking quite bobbly after a wash or two. I wash on a low heat and don't tumble dry either. I think it's just the nature of some fabrics really. They seem so comfy though. I've had Frugi etc go the same way on some of their jersey items. I've also bought my own fabric and made up some clothes and some have bobbled quicker than others, normally the best quality seem to be the first to go.

Eileen101 · 09/02/2021 07:07

General toddler wear - frugi and kite for nice colourful t shirts, the odd pair of trousers/dungarees. Always in the sale.
Sainsbury's for things like jeans/joggers.
H and M for vests for a better fit round cloth nappies.

The baby is mostly in hand me downs from toddler and a few from my nieces. I brought mostly Asda multipacks of baby grows and vests when expecting my eldest and they're all in excellent condition still. I've brought dresses etc for this summer coming mostly from frugi, kite and Toby tiger, as she will be out of baby clothes.

So mostly frugi/kite, with supermarkets for basics.

Dustyhedge · 09/02/2021 07:12

JoJo, M&S and Sainsbury’s for us in the main but the last year we’ve for a lot from H&m and I’ve been really pleased with the clothes from there for my 4yo.

Mylittlepony374 · 09/02/2021 07:13

Mainly Next for every day stuff. Tried primark, clothes don't last. Gap for hoodies as they last forever. I would also go to second hand shops pre Covid, they grow out of clothes so fast I figure better to reuse someone else's if possible. www.childrenssalon.com for good stuff.

KeyWorker · 09/02/2021 07:14

M&S, Gap, Next, Joules and Boots mostly with some Nutmeg (Morrisons) and TU (Sainsbury’s).

I was never keen on the Asda or Matalan clothing, too many characters and didn’t seem to wash as well.

I’ve never had much from Primark but the PJ’s someone got DD last year seem to be washing well so I might try Primark when the shops re-open.

Alarae · 09/02/2021 07:18

M&S for basics such as vests/socks. Probably the only thing I will pay full price for.

Blade and Rose for leggings (the stretch is good for my chunky DD) then everything else tends to be sale/ebay from Next, Frugi, Kite, Joules etc.

I love to buy my DD clothes but always hunt ebay/sales as I refuse to pay full price for something she will grow out of quickly.

Anycrispsleft · 09/02/2021 07:32

Ebay bundles. Although the problem with that is that if you have a fussy kid who falls in love with one piece of clothing and then it breaks, good luck ever finding a replacement! Other than that, most of the kids' stuff came out of Asda and H&M (and Mothercare - I'm still gutted they closed!)
Lidl are also good - most of their stuff is organic cotton and it washes well.

I found it wasn't worth spending on more expensive brands in the early days, as they grow out of stuff so fast and everything gets torn and stained. Now my kids are in school I pay for decent quality shoes and boots (Ricosta, Superfit and the outdoors companies like Meindl) and for jackets and waterproofs and so on (although Lidl still kills it for ski stuff) as they are out in all weathers and quality really has an impact then.

ValpolicellaPrimitivo · 09/02/2021 07:35

Sainsbury's, Asda, then an odd few bits from M&S, John Lewis or Next.

Ticklemynickel · 09/02/2021 07:41

Sainsbury's, Tesco, asda (though they often have the most character clothes which I avoid), next and m&s. Basically anywhere I can park easily! I also pick up stuff from charity shops & ebay too.

CoodleMoodle · 09/02/2021 07:45

Primark, Matalan, Pep & Co, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's. Used to like Peacocks as well but that's gone in my town, now. This year I got a lot of stuff for both DC (but esp DD) in H&M, in their 3for2 basics range.

I buy all of my clothes from the same places and never have a problem.

Smile19 · 09/02/2021 07:49

Frugi / Kite / Duns / Villervalla / Coddi and Womple

ForeverBubblegum · 09/02/2021 07:51

Mainly ASDA, with some Ebay second hand stuff like dresses, outfits, puddle suits and shoes (bnwt). We could afford to dress them in nicer brands, but it would be at the expense of something else (either saving or fun spending) so I don't see the point when it's going to be covered in mud/paint/wee anyway. They'll remember the thing's we did together, not what they were wearing.

Morgan12 · 09/02/2021 08:02

Never even heard of half these so just had a look at frugi. Not really my style tbh but even if it was I couldn't pay £30 for a dress for my DD. Not when matalan have same for about £12.

I think matalan is good. Also the supermarkets. I find Next doesn't wash well. H&M I quite like but it's hit and miss.

wowier · 09/02/2021 08:08

H&M & M&S
scandi like www.minirodini.com
independents like www.littlekitt.com www.thebonniemob.com
I like to mix price ranges & also buy 2nd hand.

DappledThings · 09/02/2021 08:11

Mostly Sainsbury's. We have a good big one near us and they have lots of nice designs.

Boots a bit when they were smaller.

wowier · 09/02/2021 08:13

I find Sainsbury's quality pretty good although boys options aren't great. So much of the high street for boys are in sludge colours.
