To think roast potatoes are perfectly acceptable alongside beef casserole?

Excluding mash because I can’t stand the texture, any spud goes with a casserole except spuds cooked in the casserole which are mushy and tasteless. Fondant potatoes are my fave, good with casserole as they’re a bit of a faff so you don’t have to keeping an eye on the rest of dinner whilst you make them

I put potatoes in the casserole. They soak up some of the lovely gravy and once the casserole is in the oven / slow cooker you don't have to think about anything else.

I remember once being on the bus on the way home from school and hearing this lad talk about going to his grandma's for tea - she was cooking roast potatoes, coleslaw and grated cheese for him Grin
