..to think that Boots should send their hired TENS machines by courier?

I've hired a TENS machine from Boots, and it was supposed to arrive yesterday, 3 weeks before my due date. I called them today asking where it was and they told me it had been sent out a week ago, by 2nd class post!

The post where I live is rubbish (took a week for a first class letter a week to get here recently). Am I being unreasonable to think that she should have sent it by courier to make sure that it got here in time?

I know it's quite unlikely that I'll go into labour in the next couple of days, but it'd be useful to have at the moment as am having quite strong braxton hicks.

AIBU?

Oo, that's maddening. I don't suppose that they normally encounter such long delivery times though, and it would be very expensive to send it out by courier. I do find it strange that they don't send it by a trackable or "signed for" delivery, just because TENS machines are quite expensive.
If it helps, I rented one from the hospital where I delivered, and they wouldn't give it to me until I was 38 weeks pregnant, so you still have time left to get used to it.

I understand how you feel - the thought of labour without a TES machine fills me with horror. (I'm due after Xmas and am collecting mine from shop in person to ensure I've got it when required-paranoid, moi?)

but

I think you are being a little unreasonable cause your delivery times do seem abnormally cr*p

YABU. When I worked at Boots the mother to be had to come in to store to pick it up si I could explain how to use it. I hope it arrives in time though.

Tinker · 01/11/2007 13:15

I've just bought one from Lloyds for £15.00

Washersaurus · 01/11/2007 13:20

They aren't maternity ones though are they Tinker? Oooh I couldn't have managed without the BOOST button

Tinker · 01/11/2007 13:22

Oh, don't know. Is there a difference? Have got it for back pain

NAB3sparklesandflashes · 01/11/2007 13:23

You need the boost button if it is for use during labour but no boost button will be fine for back pain.

Tinker · 01/11/2007 13:24

Well, there are booster buttons on it...I think. Goes up to 8 (not 11). I can just about take 5/6

OrmIrian · 01/11/2007 13:29

I had one first time round. Got here 3 weeks early. Just after it arrived I fell and injured my hip. Used it to ease the pain. It was very good - last and only time it was though. Useless in labour - I found it irritating when it was turned up really high and ineffective when it wasn't.

But to answer your question, I imagine that normally the system works better. I can't think they'd get many repeat customers if people have to wait that long !

kekouan · 01/11/2007 14:57

Yeah... I know it's not their fault that the post is crap around here, but I was just really surprised when they told me it was sent 2nd class. I thought at least it would be sent recorded delivery.

I'm just anxious.. I didn't have the option to pick it up in store, just delivery. I want to go for as natural a birth as possible, and with the ever-increasing braxton hicks, I'm really worried that I'll go into labour and not have it.

Tinker-don't think the Lloyds ones are suitable for use in labour -least that's what the advert said...

Hmmm... it's still not here. Not ever seen our postman for the last two days.

Spoke to a more reasonable person at Tenscare, they've agreed to send me one for tomorrow, but I still had to pay for the recorded delivery charge... Oh well, at least I'll have it tomorrow morning! :D

nappyaddict · 03/11/2007 00:33
