I'm sorry - I was only dressed as a pretty pink fairy earlier, hope I still didn't let the side down!
Anyway all I want to ask is: as a newcomer to Mumsnet how on earth can I post my own question for all you experts to answer? I have managed to give my opinion on previously asked questions but can't find the way to asking my own question
(which is nothing to do with dressing up or hallowe'en btw!!)

i hve chocolate left over - what is the world coming to?
tel you what though, the kids were disapointed i didn't make pumpkin brains that they had to wade into to get lollies (half set syrup jelly) - i did it last year - and they were much disapointed at my flinging chocolate at them - i kept apologising - but am secretly chuffed that they remembered

I completely forgot!
Doorbell rang about 5.30, about to answer it when I spotted a short, witchy shaped person on the other side..... I feel awful, really I do but I didnt ahve anything to give, so I backed away from the door ever......so.....slowly (think I got away with it)
I got a bit of a thrill from the subterfuge if I'm honest
I knew what to expect for the rest of the evening when the bell went - and didn't budge!
It sounds so mean, I know but it's not on my radar yet so I didn't plan ahead....
Much like last year when DP opened the door and realising we had made no provisions we had them wait for a good 3 mins while we scuttled around foraging for suitable 'treats'.
I think the poor things ended up with a bruised and battered banana and some coppers from DPs pocket. He fished them out when he saw how disappointed they were with the banana. They were then disappointed AND insulted and the lady accompanying them looked thoroughly embarassed for us.
We hid for the rest of the night.
Poor DS, he'll already be struck off all the neighbours lists before he's even out of nappies.
