Anyone elses family not getting out for daily walks?

That really, i see so many people out during the week, on the streets probably because its all we can do! Grin lots of photos on Facebook, but we barely get out, between home learning and my husband wfh, by the time the kids are done working they don't want to would rather game as they can talk to their friends via headset, i suppose the social aspect is more appealing than a walk with mum! i end up often its just me and the pram.
Used to enjoy the woods but reports of wierdos have put me off.
we only really get ouy for walks at weekends, anyone else like this? or is just me?
YANBU-im like this too,
or

We tend to just get out at the weekends too - and then only if we can, it’s usually raining / snowing at the moment!

During the first lockdown and over the summer we were getting out every day after work for a quick walk plus a longer walk at the weekends but the dark evenings and cold / wet weather really don’t make it very appealing at the moment!

Sceptre86 · 05/02/2021 14:07

We get out for a walk at the weekends.

PrawnPower · 05/02/2021 14:07

We were but the weather is awful just now. Roll on springtime 🌸

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 05/02/2021 14:09

We're out every day but I suspect your children are older than mine. DC2 is like an excitable labrador pup and is insufferable without at least a daily walk.

Pinkbottle · 05/02/2021 14:09

We go out every morning. Two toddlers. But not homeschooling. Only way to stay sane for us.

EmmaGellerGreen · 05/02/2021 14:12

We go out every morning before school, either run or walk. DS is 13 and it’s non negotiable. The difference in his concentration levels between running days and walking days is astonishing, so much more focused after a run.

DonLewis · 05/02/2021 14:13

We were managing every day after tea. But this last week we've not. We're ready for half term and better weather.

My fitbit wondered if I was alive at one point this week...all this sitting down zooming, and the kids, sat down glued to computers for school all day long, it's not good for us at all.

KarensChoppyBob · 05/02/2021 14:13

It's my teen DS that forces me out for early evening walks, regardless of the weather. Once forced out of my cocoon I quite enjoy it. We leave our phones at home and have good chats.

KarensChoppyBob · 05/02/2021 14:14

But I didn't want to say YABU as everyone's situation is different!

staydazzling · 05/02/2021 14:31

My older children are 9 and 12, your son sounds great @KarensChoppyBob,,! i think aswell after homeschooling they are so fed up its like, Nahhhh i want to do something i want to do!!!
Previous lockdown weather definitely made a difference!

Trust me, I can't WAIT for the better weather either :)

HavfrueDenizKisi · 05/02/2021 14:35

My kids are the same age as yours OP and we are not getting out much because a) the kids are on live lessons until 3.30/4, b) it's dark and wet by the time DH finishes work and c) we have a new not fully vaccinated puppy so a bit housebound.

Pre puppy and during holidays we got out much more and usually did a long weekend walk.

I am sooo looking forward to some spring weather and lighter evenings - and winter doesn't normally bother me.

EssentialHummus · 05/02/2021 14:35

Toddler here (well, she's napping, I'm the mum). Out every morning and sometimes every afternoon too if she doesn't sleep much. So, so over it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/02/2021 14:36

Some days in the week as well as weekend but not everyday. And not always a long walk.

DoraTan · 05/02/2021 14:36

We do (6 & 8yo), but we have a dog so no choice really!

I don't think you need to worry about it though OP, just do what works for you. I think my two seem happier after a walk, but we probably wouldn't do it every day if we didn't have the dog.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/02/2021 14:36

Dd has a pretty full day of online teaching and Ds is part time at school so not always an opportunity.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 05/02/2021 14:37

Not today as it’s -30C

SnuggyBuggy · 05/02/2021 14:37

I can always face going outside every day. Sometimes I just March up and down the kitchen for a bit

ShipshapeShore · 05/02/2021 14:38

I try but some days I just cannot be bothered to walk the same routes yet again! We have some lovely field walks close by but it's too sodding muddy.

BigTallyWacker · 05/02/2021 14:39

Nah we do it if we feel like it. We’re all sick to death of effing walks.

MargaretThursday · 05/02/2021 14:39

I have teens.
That answers that one Grin

Merryoldgoat · 05/02/2021 14:40

I hate walking as a pastime. Happy to walk as a mode of transport but I get zero enjoyment so I don’t go out walking.

CMOTDibbler · 05/02/2021 14:43

I go for a daily walk with the dogs, but my natural lunchbreak (due to afternoon meetings) and Ds's school break don't match up so I can't force him out then. He is made to leave the house for at least 15 minutes everyday, even if its just in the garden with the chickens, and he and I are doing a Joe Wicks DVD in the evenings so he gets some exercise.
We force him out at the weekend, amid much grumping

hollygoflightly · 05/02/2021 14:44

No cos me and my husband are working until 5 most days, often later if we've been helping the kids with their work! All these people that have time to work, homeschool and go for beautiful walks every day can do one!

hollygoflightly · 05/02/2021 14:44

(Not really obv)
