Call me nosey but at 25 I’d not quite got into the sector I’m in now and at 35, I’d already started on my career path. Went to university, had my kids afterwards, but was done by the time I was 30yrs old. I’ll start £19,000 and £30,000. I will admit that it has accelerated since. But more interested in those crucial child rearing years between 25-35.

at 25 I think it was about £12,000 (this is in 1987)
at 35 it was £25,000 ish but in a different profession

lonelySam · 05/02/2021 18:36

25 - €25k
35 - €52,5k + rent free apartment for a year
40 now and on €65k for 32h/ week. This is my glass ceiling, I won't go any higher, sadly.

AliceMcK · 05/02/2021 18:37

Wasn’t in the uk, done a rough exchange in rates and come up with

25 £11-12k
35 (10 years ago) £45-48k base salary, full package including benefits annual bonuses £60k, plus a further 12% of my salary pain into my pension.

No degree, highest gcse was D. Purely earned from working my way up through the industry. Was 36 when I started having children.

Royalbloo · 05/02/2021 18:37

£18k at 25
£60k at 35

Royalbloo · 05/02/2021 18:37

Also had kids at 36

icedgem85 · 05/02/2021 18:38

45k at 25, 80k at 35 - 3 kids in between!

FoxInSocks2 · 05/02/2021 18:39

25- £23 000
30- £30 000

By 35 I'm aiming for about £35 000 but that will be due to being part time.

Watwing · 05/02/2021 18:40

25- about 36k maybe
35-100k

Carycy · 05/02/2021 18:43

At 25. I earned about £22, with on call about £28. At 35 about £43 pro rata. Work part time though so less than that.

MeadowHay · 05/02/2021 18:44

At 25 I was initially earning minimum wage and then that year had a promotion to earn essentially the real living wage. I had my DD at 24 but I didn't graduate from uni until I was 23 for various reasons. I'm 27 and pregnant with no.2. Although I'm not 35 yet, I have been accepted into a training course for a career now. The process will be long so I will be about 33 when I qualify. So I can anticipate with relative confidence that at 35 I will be earning in the region of £30-£35k. So yes I will essentially have doubled by earnings in that 10 yr period. Not sure if we will have any more kids but definitely not before I qualify.

justlonelystars · 05/02/2021 18:52

25 - £36k
28 - £45k (I’m not yet 35)

irishgal85 · 05/02/2021 18:53

Definitely, I don't believe a few of the answers either.

Really?? I would say a lot of these wages are fairly average...there's not many high numbers to be fair!!

LubaLuca · 05/02/2021 18:53

25 - £28k
35 - £0

Mamagotskills · 05/02/2021 19:04

What don’t you believe Irishgal?

Whalespeak · 05/02/2021 19:10

25- 27k (although that role would be 33k niw)

30- 39,000 and likely to stay in this range for next 10 years or so

Ikora · 05/02/2021 19:13

25 37k
35 on maternity leave

MrsSimonBasset · 05/02/2021 19:24

@Twattergy

25 - c. 25k (20 yrs ago) 35 - c. 50k

Had child at 36. Earnings dropped when went back 4 days a week. But got promotions so FTE went up.

Now c.67k FTE (do 4 day week).
Always good to get earnings as high as possible before mat leave.

Your post is interesting because, I earn about £65k plus bonus, but had my kids when my salary was less than a third of what I earn now. I’m mid 40s so maybe it took longer to get here, because I had to juggle childcare, but the fact the kids are at an age where childcare is a long distant memory does help with career progression.

@Mamagotskills I believe them, the quote is from a pp who doesn't and claims they are too high. My point is that I think most of the salaries mentioned are fairly average.

Justnotfeelingit · 05/02/2021 19:32

25 - £18k
35 - £38k

Had two kids, one when I was 28, one at 32.

Am heading towards mid 40s now - £57k

Mamagotskills · 05/02/2021 19:33

Sorry! @irishgal85 totally agree with you, multitasking 🤦🏻‍♀️

SpaceRaiders · 05/02/2021 19:33

Graduated in 2008, I spent a long time unemployed or temping.

25: 17k - 2dc at 25 & 28.
35: c.150k - Own business, in line to double my income by the time I turn 40. I’ve had to take huge risks to get here, I would never have dreamt of earning as much as I do, if I had remained employed.

TrulyOutrageousJem · 05/02/2021 19:34

25 - £18.5k
35 - £40k

Veuvestar · 05/02/2021 19:35

25- £7.50 an hour
35- £60k

CarlottaValdez · 05/02/2021 19:36

25 - about 20k
35 - 75k I think

Had DS at 36 then got promoted when he was about 18 months and now at 41 I’m on 125k.

thebakeoffwasntasgoodthisyear · 05/02/2021 19:36

25 - £38000
35 - £165000 (stressful job that made me ill)
40 - £65000 (current salary, after making best decisions of my life to leave previous high-paying but horrible job)
