To expect people to be trustworthy and not nick my stuff?

OK, so I?m the world?s most stupid and naïve person. I wrongly believed that people were basically trustworthy, and hire out a cloth nappy kit for £10 per week, no deposit, just on trust. How dumb am I? Just had it nicked. False address, name and phone number given. Police know who it is from my description, but can?t prove anything! I just have to kiss goodbye to £90 worth of nappies and stuff.

So much for me trying to help people with not much money out with try before you buy.

I know I should have taken a deposit and/or checked ID.

Why am I so dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb ???

Sorry to hear that. YANBU to expect this, but there's always someone who doesn't follow normal codes of decency.

Hey, lesson learned I guess. But don't let it change you. People are generally good it's the crap ones that hurt us.

Poor you. When I was a cloth nappy seller I used to do the same as you. Felt really awkward asking people for huge deposits and relied on trust. Sometimes when I handed a kit over to someone I used to think afterwards "oh, all I have as contact details for this person is their number". Never got anything nicked, but sometimes people didn't look afer the nappies as well as they should so I stopped doing the hire kit. What a horrible thing to happen
