To open a sweepstake on how long it will take dh to unpack from our weekend away?

It's sitting right inside the study door where dh left it when we come home on Monday. We have to step over it to get to the computers.

On Monday evening I unpacked everything of mine and ds's, and the general toiletries. All dh has to do is move his clothes from the bag to his laundry basket. I reckon next Saturday at the earliest.

There is also a minor sweepstake on how long before someone posts to say that I should get over myself and unpack for him, it won't take a second and relationships are all about give and take and helping each other out.

9 days.

What's the prize?

marthaboo · 31/10/2007 13:35

There is currently a belt belonging to dh on the stairs going up to our bedroom - I'm guessing 6 months before he stops walking past it and finally picks it up. Though I may well crack sooner than that.

The prize is one slightly used husband marthboo. There will be a small postage charge of however much the airfare/trainfair is to you and a once-off, minimal adminstration charge of £100,000.

He'll move it tonight! Give him the benefit of the doubt............NOT!

I reckon it will still be there until Sunday evening unless he kicks his toe on it and then takes it to bedroom (stomping and cursing) where it will 'fester' until you give in and unpack it!

Did you have a good weekend away?

bran · 31/10/2007 13:43

Yes, thank you, we had a lovely weekend. We went to my parents in Dublin, and contrary to expectations the weather was glorious except for half an hour of rain. As usual I had packed entirely the wrong clothes, I'm always either boiling hot or freezing cold there because I pack according to the weather forcast. This time I was boiling, I must learn to layer.

Hi Bran, I'd move it to the side so I wouldn't trip over it. I might mention that I'd moved it for safety with a smile. Look on this as an exercise in patience/training him to move his own stuff. Actually more like management training for you, for free!

milou2 · 31/10/2007 13:57

Oops, I meant training for him to empty out his own luggage, obviously don't do that under any but the worst circumstances...

LazyLinePainterJane · 31/10/2007 13:58

My DH would put the bag away and then get it out next time and be surprised that there were clothes still in it!

bran · 31/10/2007 14:21

LOL at LLPJ's dh. I have been popping random socks found lying around into the bag, he'll be very surpised when he finally gets around to unpacking.

milou2, we've been together for 20 years, I think the time for training has past. I did try, but he's just not trainable. I think I will have to move the bag though, the hoover is kept in a wardrobe in the study and the cleaner won't be able to get at it when she comes tomorrow.

I was thrilled this morning when I got up and the bag wasn't there. But disappointed a few minutes later when I found it had just moved round the corner, still unpacked.

DH is heading off for a few nights tomorrow, but I don't think he'll be taking this bag as he wants to have hand luggage only. I think there will be a new sweepstake on another bag on Wednesday.

good luck bran!

DH came back from a camping weekend and didn't unpack...and I didn't mention the large rucksack taking up half the bedroom floor...so two weeks later he needed to use it again and found that the bread he had left in there had moulded over his good outdoor gear and sleeping bag, which then had to be jet-washed to help it all recover...I didn't need to say a thing

Denny185 · 03/11/2007 14:32

He wont unpack it until he needs the bag again
