To be annoyed that my sister has sent me postal flowers and....

Every year for my birthday my sister sends me postal flowers from a high street shop and every year they turn up either half dead, or nothing like the pictures online. Every time she ends up complaining and every year makes me feel bad shes wasted her money usually £35-40.

Last week she said I'll send you some flowers and we had a conversation that not to bother as they arent great usually...and a card would be lovely etc...

So today a box turns up flowers stuffed inside...mainly dried up and very poor in fact I dont think they will last 2 days. I thank her by text... she asks if they were lovely and for photos...I send her photos ...she goes all funny and annoyed that they arent good...and so it starts again...this has been going on for ar least 5 years.

@WagnerTheWehrWolf really? Bloom
And Wild are terrible in my experience. I’ve used them 3 times and ever time they’ve turned up half dead and late.

GellerYeller · 01/02/2021 23:57

A passive aggressive person will be along in a mo to advise you to use the same company for all your gifts to your sister in future.

HeddaGarbled · 01/02/2021 23:59

I think you could have a bit of fun with this and start sending her ludicrous photos. One year it could be a giant rhododendron and then the next year a bare stick.

plebsticle · 02/02/2021 00:03

What is this high street shop that does flowers?!

okilydokily · 02/02/2021 00:03

I recently bought flowers from what I think might be the same company - my first time using them. £45 for what looked a very nice arrangement on the website. My mum (whose birthday it was) said they turned up looking pretty sad/dead. I complained and they were very helpful, and offered to send her (OR ME!) a replacement bouquet, plus a little box of chocolates and a bottle of prosecco! I thought this was going above and beyond, to be honest. Perhaps your sister's on to a winner with this ?!

Cherrysoup · 02/02/2021 00:03

I always use a local florist to wherever they’re going: is this an option you could tell her instead of the dead stuff? Dunno if florists are doing deliveries chez toi.

LizFlowers · 02/02/2021 00:05

@ineedaholidaynow

Why hasn't she tried somewhere else?
I thought that.

I have sent 'letter box' flowers and received them from various places and they've been good. She is using the wrong source.

Overseasmom100 · 02/02/2021 00:06

No nothing to do with refunding...she doesnt listen. Shes gone all quiet on me tonight. I will speak to her tomorrow and I will.say I thought we agreed last week it wasnt a good idea to sens flowers as every year they are never great...but I'll get the ... well Im sorry once again...just rrally cant be doing with it all

That sounds awful! She’s not buying you a present, she’s buying you an obligation.

campin · 02/02/2021 00:07

High street flower shop?🤔🤔

Heathcliff27 · 02/02/2021 00:07

Next?

Heathcliff27 · 02/02/2021 00:08

Always crap ime

Awkwardteeth · 02/02/2021 00:08

Is it Next?

Turnedouttoes · 02/02/2021 00:09

I’m guessing they’re from Next. How bizarre to keep sending them, I’d be very embarrassed the first time it happened and would make sure to choose a better option after that.

Last Valentine’s Day DP sent me a very expensive bouquet of roses that turned up completely dead, there was literally no point even putting them in a vase. He learnt a £20 bunch from M&S is a much safer bet in future

Jenasaurus · 02/02/2021 00:09

i had this with flowers from Next, so never used them again. I am guessing it may be them

Overseasmom100 · 02/02/2021 00:09

I tell her ever year dont send them...

She knows about local florist...I get her flowers from.there and she says how lovely they are

Other than me being totally blunt... they are crap...they always are STOP sending me them ... I think she still would

Gumps "My DH sent some last time he was away and they were mainly lollies which I had to bin as we have two cats."

Took me a minute to figure that out! 😂

Overseasmom100 · 02/02/2021 00:11

@plebsticle

What is this high street shop that does flowers?!
Next M&S
Maves · 02/02/2021 00:13

Jeez you do go on a bit ...if it's next ovo on credit so that's why she gets them.

GellerYeller · 02/02/2021 00:13

Has she got a Next account-Maybe can't afford to buy them outright from elsewhere? Or every year you're getting the free replacement for the ones she complained about to them last year?!

GellerYeller · 02/02/2021 00:14

@Maves cross post!

Gettinggrumpier · 02/02/2021 00:16

If you have been sending her presents, then stop doing it. Maybe if she doesn't get anything from you, she will finally stop sending you flowers you don't want.

StrugglingPa · 02/02/2021 00:16

@Overseasmom100 Do you by any chance have the texts from last yr? Would be good to send her screenshots of what a moron she is being

8obbingabout · 02/02/2021 00:17

oh no What is wrong with her?
If she has been doing this for the past 5 years I cant help but think she wants you to have bad flowers.

I would be very very honest and tell her that you are seriously upset she has spent money again for the 5th year in a row on these awful dead flowers. Ask her why she has done it again.

Next year maybe you can suggest another place to order from or go and pick a bunch of flowers together (Covid restrictions permitting - gosh I hope we are out of it by then!)
