thinking about this after a conversation I had with my mum. she said it's now, at 47 because she was so insecure in her 20s and 30s and had 3 young kids, whereas now she is confident and gets sleep lol!

I am already starting to feel age insecurity creeping in and I'm only 27! so what age did you feel/look your best?

OP posts:
mistletoeandsigh · 02/02/2021 00:16

34 for me, I'm 40 now and though still pretty confident, lack of sleep etc really shows up as wrinkles these days!

VienneseWhirligig · 02/02/2021 00:20

Looked my best at 17. Felt my best mid 30s with a good career, teenage DS, happy marriage. Now I'm in my 40s, widowed and its all downhill.

BusterGonad · 02/02/2021 01:31

Thanks CharlotteRose90 it's nice to have someone understand my feelings. You've really helped. I just feel stuck in a rut but I'll get there

Mrbob · 02/02/2021 01:52

Late 30s. Still fat but sensible enough to realise it didn’t make me a bad person and was healthy and felt good. Looked young for my age and appeared to still be somewhat desirable! Felt really good in myself.
The feeling good is still here at 40- I am happy in my skin and while always seeking for more my life is good and I am satisfied. The wondering about whether I will regret not having kids is gone as I realise that I don’t think I will and it’s too late now anyway!

Puddinger · 02/02/2021 02:00
  1. I've never really connected with my body as happily as I did then.
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 02/02/2021 02:11

About 25/26. I had lost a bit of weight ( although I have been thinner in the past, but was too young to feel any real confidence) I seemed to find a bit of a new style that suited me make up and clothes wise. I can still make myself look really good when we have a night out or something, but generally don't put in as much effort anymore, and gained a but of weight.
I'm currently 41 weeks pregnant and look like utter shot though. Not looking forward to trying to shift the baby weight this time. I'm bloody massive. Haven't had a bit of make up on since I found out I was pregnant, have only dyed my hair once, and because of lockdowns only had it cut twice since last march. I look and feel like utter shit.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 02/02/2021 13:26

Early 30's to early 40's for me. My confidence peaked during that time. Now 50 and hating the ageing process.

Faith50 · 02/02/2021 14:22

As an adult, I was the most slim aged 18 to 21. I did not appreciate the fact that I could eat like a horse and stay a size 8. I did not appreciate my looks and lacked confidence especially with men.

25 years later I am a size 10 through healthy eating and participating in daily light exercise. I am bloody proud of myself at maintaining my weight - would not say this to anyone in real life. Wink

Greenevalley · 02/02/2021 14:32

For my 50th my dh took me to Rome.
A few days after my return we went to a friend's party. On arrival my friend's dh couldn't believe my age.
I knew I looked good, I was slim, slightly tanned, my hair was perfectly styled and I had very few wrinkles.
10 years later my face has aged, especially in the last year, I'm still slim but my hair is not the best.

If only I could have stopped the clock on my 50th.

HeidiHaughton · 02/02/2021 14:36

The year I got married (28). I was determined to look and feel beautiful and confident. I exercised and ate properly and did a lot of beauty and hair treatments. I had never really felt that good about myself before. I still have more confidence in my looks as a slightly dumpy middle aged woman now than I did as a slim teenager/early 20s when I think I looked 'better'.

JustCallMeGriffin · 02/02/2021 14:41

18 - my fitness was impeccable as I'd just joined the military and it was prior to said military causing substantial injury to my lower body resulting in an entire adulthood living in pain.

It's only been the last year that I've been brave enough to attempt exercising properly again. Thankfully only a couple of twinges are the result but I'll never have a body that felt and looked as healthy as I did pre-injury.

CroutonsAvatar · 02/02/2021 17:04

All of my 20’s. I was HOT. I could kick myself, as I certainly didn’t know it.

PetraRabbit · 02/02/2021 17:23

Probably around 29 and then again in my late 30s but I didn't have children until I was 41!

FatherTedsBankAccount · 02/02/2021 17:27

Around 30. Looking back at photos of me at that age, I was stunning but I didn't feel it.

originalusernamefail · 02/02/2021 17:32

21-25 unfortunately for me I didn't know it though Grin. I saw a pic a friend had taken on a holiday to Greece and didn't recognise the girl standing with my bf (reader ......it was me 🤦‍♀️).

Chimeraforce · 02/02/2021 17:35
  1. I'd lost weight and my hair was long and gorgeous. I've never really found happiness as an adult though. I'm 47 now. The petals have mostly dropped off.
BabblativeBean · 02/02/2021 17:36

Forty for me.

Sideorderofchips · 02/02/2021 17:40

Never

CookPassBabtridge · 02/02/2021 22:43

I feel far better looking and sexier at 35 than I did at 21. Or any age. I never expected to feel like this! Ahh the confidence of age 😂 I actually like my crows feet.

notdaddycool · 02/02/2021 22:51

Around when I got engaged, and now the poor girl is stuck with me.

thenightsky · 02/02/2021 22:53

I looked my best at 16/17. I felt my best (physical and mental health wise) in my 40s.

Serin · 02/02/2021 22:54

25/26 in love, size 10, superfit, eating well, pre kids so sleeping well too.
Happy days.
Early 50s now. To all you younger women, believeme, you look amazing Grin

Lightwindows · 02/02/2021 23:05

Early thirties I think, when I met my husband and before I had children, also in my twenties but I didn't realise and had no confidence which was a real shame . Life was complicated for a while after that with various bereavements and have a toddler and baby at the moment and zero time to myself . It has been months since I have been able to get a decent haircut like everyone and that makes a big difference. It's amazing how a good cut can lift your face.

dingoesatemybaby · 02/02/2021 23:12

Between 21 and 27 (when I had DC)

Happymum12345 · 02/02/2021 23:44

Now. 44. Lost a lot of weight and run everyday. Bit saggy though!
