If you had the chance, would you move away from the UK?
Where to and for what reasons?
Just curious :)

YABU - yes I would move
YANBU - no I like living here

Ha just seen 100% yanbu bit then realised that's just me!

HungryHippo20 · 31/01/2021 17:56

I did in 2012, moved to Melbourne from Scotland with my then partner. Did it purely for him, in my heart I didn't want to. Lasted 15 months (longer than I ever dreamed!) and left him there! Great experience which I'll never regret but just wasn't for me!

NothingIsGoing2GetBetterItsNot · 31/01/2021 17:56

Sorry 100% yabu not yanbu

redsquirrelfan · 31/01/2021 17:57

If I were single, yes, definitely. Ideally somewhere like Hamburg or Copenhagen. You can be a lot more mobile when you don't have to worry about family.

Autumn101 · 31/01/2021 17:57

Yes! We were abroad until last summer since 2013, plan to stay back in UK for a few years then move somewhere else.

It’s fun, challenging and an adventure.

redsquirrelfan · 31/01/2021 17:57

Well I couldn't move now because of Brexit but had I been single I would have moved after the referendum.

DinosaurDiana · 31/01/2021 17:57

No, because I get terribly homesick.
But if I could I’d live somewhere warm with a view of a lovely beach 🏖

SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/01/2021 17:59

I don't know. Feel like I need a change so absolutely would move. Maybe Canada. I like the idea of Canada. Or Thailand for something totally different. Again. No idea why. Just like the idea😂

NothingIsGoing2GetBetterItsNot · 31/01/2021 17:59

For ref I would move somewhere where the weather was more defined and seasonal (warm sun in summer, snow in winter, none of this grey crap), where people were less grey, and where we could afford somewhere decent to live for a reasonable amount!

HelplessProcrastinator · 31/01/2021 17:59

No because I moved around a lot as a child and hated it. Also my DD1 has ASD and would really struggle. We have her schooling sorted now so going nowhere.

Parker231 · 31/01/2021 18:01

We already have a moved planned. As soon as the travel restrictions are lifted we are moving to Canada.

Pinkfreesias · 31/01/2021 18:03

I would happily move! I've lived in Portugal before and would love to live there again, but maybe somewhere further afield would he good, too. I'd like much, much warmer and drier weather as I'm riddled with arthritis. I'd love to try Australia.

At the moment, though, with the toxic situation here in Scotland, it looks like our next move will be back to England.

Silverstreaks · 31/01/2021 18:05

Yes, because I moved around a lot as a child and loved it.
I'm not sure exactly where I'd go but if I had the dosh to do it I'd choose between Australia, Canada or many places in Africa.
Unfortunately probably to old and brassic.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 31/01/2021 18:06

Went out to the Middle East for a 14-month contract. Stayed 10 years. Best years of my life and still miss aspects of it.

Avaganda · 31/01/2021 18:11

I would move in a heartbeat. I'd love to move to Canada but sadly we'd never be accepted.

TheCanyon · 31/01/2021 18:25

For somewhere warm all year round, absolutely in a heartbeat. I'm not sure where though.

Escape2TheMax · 31/01/2021 18:29

Retire early & travel the world !

Costacoffeeplease · 31/01/2021 18:31

We did. Moved to Portugal almost 18 years ago for the climate and way of life. Still here

Grapewrath · 31/01/2021 18:33

I did- for a relationship. The relationship broke down and I moved back however would’ve stayed could I have afforded to on my own.

Indecisive12 · 31/01/2021 18:35

I’d love to live in Australia if it wasn’t so far from my parents.

Indecisive12 · 31/01/2021 18:36

@Costacoffeeplease how did you find learning the language and how was it for finding a job until you were fluent? I’d love to move to Portugal too but worry about work until I have a fluency in the language.

Unsure33 · 31/01/2021 18:36

No . Mainly because of family . But also there is still a lot of the uk I have never visited yet .

Catflapkitkat · 31/01/2021 18:38

I moved from London to live in Scandinavia with scandi husband. I would move back to the UK in a heartbeat but have been outpriced in the property market. Also, kids are in the local school system now which is very different (worse) to the where they were in London. One day.

WriteronaMission · 31/01/2021 18:40

We did five years ago and don't regret it. It's been hard this last 12 months with travel restrictions but there's been a lot more positive than negative. And we get all four seasons (sometimes three if the climate decides to skip spring).

SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/01/2021 18:40

I am planning to retire around Black Sea hopefully 😁 So that could make up for the no move to Canada😁
