Over the last few weeks there have been lots of live football matches on television and nearly all the players have perfectly groomed hair and very sharp haircuts. They can't all be married to hairdressers. Why are they exempt from the rules?

You know they aren't.

Bixs · 30/01/2021 16:48

They’re not exempt

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 30/01/2021 16:48

Hmm, it’s an interesting point. Who is looking well coiffured at the mo?
Wonder if the clubs have a wellness team that inc grooming and hair cuts etc

LIZS · 30/01/2021 16:49

Just seen that one was stupid enough to not only get such a haircut but post it on SM. imho those who held Christmas/NY parties, use their status to travel on family holidays and generally flout the guidelines/Law should be held to account by both clubs and legal system.

luxxlisbon · 30/01/2021 16:49

Barbers have only been shut for like 4 weeks in most of the country??

fiftiesmum · 30/01/2021 16:52

Because like a small but persistent group of people they are immune to catching and spreading virus and the rules so not apply to them (plus they have money to pay fines)

That is so irresponsible and annoying. Many of my close friends and loved ones are in the barbering / hair dressing industry and are really struggling without money coming in. Why is it ok for him to keep cutting?!

Avenueofcherryblossom · 30/01/2021 17:03

I keep complaining to my DH about footballers’ haircuts. There are a lot of them sporting very short cuts (are they called fading?) which clearly need a trip to the barber every week. They do seem to be having a different experience of lockdown to most people, but I think the same can be said for many very rich people.

Nancylovesthecock · 30/01/2021 17:05

Aren't whole teams in bubbles which would od include their families? Maybe one of the Wags is a hairdresser? 😂

letsgomaths · 30/01/2021 17:07

Since when have footballers (and other rich folk) followed the same roolz as everybody else?

Don't they sometimes have driving bans overturned because "it would have a devastating impact on their lives" (in other words, because they can afford good lawyers)?

SummaLuvin · 30/01/2021 17:12

Media including advertising can continue to work, and use hair and makeup teams. If a footballer is involved in a photoshoot then it is fine for them to hair their hair cut and styled on set. However, I imagine this is the minority and most are just breaking the rules.

Oblomov20 · 30/01/2021 17:13

I too have noticed that they all look very manicured! AngryAngry

MissMarpleDarling · 30/01/2021 17:15

Maybe they bought clippers from amazon and their gf/bf has had a go like the rest of us and are actually quite good now. Maybe someone in their bubble is a hairdresser.

Clymene · 30/01/2021 17:17

Just like the news presenters who have hair and make up done every day even though none of us are supposed to be having personal grooming. It's not necessary to have it to appear on tv but it's obvious it's happening.

wowfudge · 30/01/2021 17:20

Afaik newsreaders are doing their own hair and make up. They certainly were in the first lockdown and you could tell. We're perhaps more attuned to people having done their own now so don't notice as much.

LadyWhistledownthe1st · 30/01/2021 17:20

@Nancylovesthecock yes

LadyWhistledownthe1st · 30/01/2021 17:21

Club DB plays for has the physio, masseuse & barber in the “bubble”

NerrSnerr · 30/01/2021 17:22

I know a few 'normal' people who have had their mobile hairdresser visit all the way through (including one who then complained about having to go to the office to work as she is nearly 70). Lots of selfish people around- not just the rich and famous.

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2021 17:25

YABU to post Covid stuff in AIBU.

WithIcePlease · 30/01/2021 17:36

A friends housemate is a barber and is chauffeured out to a premiership footballers house and does the hair of the whole family through the lockdowns

peak2021 · 30/01/2021 17:39

If we had a competent government, the Sports Minister would have contacted the FA and made it clear that continued permission for elite football will be withdrawn if this persists. Unless those such as the Newcastle player are suspended for doing so.

I'm sure it's just coincidence that the OP posted this on the same day that this news story broke. Hmm
