To think that no instant hot chocolate is worth the calories

Just that really. I was heating up some milk to make some HC and DH said 'why not just make the instant? It's quicker and less messy?' I just think if I am going to drink it I might as well enjoy it, but was wondering if there are any delicious ones I am missing?

I love the Cadbury hot chocolate. Haven't had it for years but used to make it with hot water and milk and add marshmallows...so good.

The instant ones can be ok if you put it much more powder than it tells you to!

They don't even compare with a proper one made with milk though. The hotel chocolat ones are amazing.

Haven’t RTFT but M&S instant hot chocolate sachets (not the low cal/low fat ones) are pretty good, by far the best instant I’ve tried - they taste like proper hot chocolate. I keep a box at work for emergencies Smile

All the low calorie ones have a horrible texture, even if the flavour is okay.

@ShaunaTheSheep

Love my velvetiser, it was a surprise present and gets used every day. Green & Blacks with semi skimmed milk for standard hot chocolate; HC 70% with a slug of Baileys for a treat. And frothy coffee every morning. Love it.

But the Hotel Chocolat sachets are not cheap and definitely do not serve two, they are smaller than a standard mug.

I couldn't work out how a PP could get 2 mugs out of one sachet either unless they are buying the big re-sealable pouches (which aren't the value for money as initially though either). The sachets are considerably less expensive than Starbucks / cafés etc however far more expensive than a jar of powder from the supermarket. It is proper chocolate rather than synthetic sweeteners though

Read this thread last night and decided to make a hot chocolate using hot milk and grated dark chocolate. Looked amazing. It made me feel sick and had stomach ache all night!! Will be sticking to cadburys drinking chocolate from now on.

After finding a few congealed abandoned cups and wondering, what's IN that? I started checking ingredients. Not all created equal. We stick to drinking chocolate with heated milk now.
