Using kitchen scissors to separate a string of raw sausages, then using the scissors (without washing them) to open a packet of frozen fruit, to be eaten raw with yoghurt.

YABU - no biggie

YANBU - that's fuckin' rank

YABU

fireplaceburning · 28/01/2021 21:58

Yes of course rank.

AStudyinPink · 28/01/2021 21:58

I thought this was going to be actually gross, rather than mildly gastronomically risky.

WithinAForestDark · 28/01/2021 21:58

I'd struggle to give a shit about this.

goingflowing · 28/01/2021 22:00

Not gross as such but very unhygienic imo

Me too. I was expecting something vile when I opened this thread.
LochJessMonster · 28/01/2021 22:02

Do the scissors actually touch the fruit?

Unless the scissors were covered in raw meat, which I doubt, I don’t think I would care about this.

AStudyinPink · 28/01/2021 22:03

Gross would be going seconds on the dog’s cheese string or washing your toilet brush in the kitchen sink.

user127819 · 28/01/2021 22:03

I wouldn't say gross, but risky and unhygienic. I would not want to eat this person's cooking.

whoamongstus · 28/01/2021 22:03

Same.
IMightCry · 28/01/2021 22:04

Cross contamination. Its a no no.

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 22:05

I mean there might be a mild hygiene risk... but barely as the scissors wouldn’t touch the fruit. I think you can chill.

ImAllOut · 28/01/2021 22:06

The scissors wouldn't exactly be coated in raw meat though, it would be a bit different if they were used to cut an actual joint in half or something, and then being directly used on something ready to eat. It would be entirely possible to get the fruit out without touching a part of the bag that's been in contact with the raw meat scissors surely?

Sheepareawesome · 28/01/2021 22:06

Meh. Would not bother me but I am a bit of a skank. And lazy. Expect I have done worse tbh! I would rinse them if I was using the scissors on the actual fruit itself but the packet, probably not.

Oreservoir · 28/01/2021 22:07

Bad food hygiene.
I wouldn’t want to share my kitchen with that person.

randomchap · 28/01/2021 22:08

You should keep any utensils that have been used on raw meat away from anything that's not going to be cooked.

High risk of cross contamination.

I'm amazed that some people think this is OK

Splodgetastic · 28/01/2021 22:08

Are the scissors washed or not between?

MrsHound · 28/01/2021 22:15

Bah take a ton of it to kill you

Cuntitinthebin · 28/01/2021 22:17

@WithinAForestDark

I'd struggle to give a shit about this.
Same here.
TestingTestingWonTooFree · 28/01/2021 22:17

@Splodgetastic

Are the scissors washed or not between?
without washing them
Veryverycalmnow · 28/01/2021 22:18

Yanbu

MrDarcysMa · 28/01/2021 22:19

It's not good practice but I doubt it'll kill anyone

sunflowersandbuttercups · 28/01/2021 22:21

It really wouldn't bother me at all.

I'm prepared to be told that makes me disgusting according to MN though Grin

Batshitkerazy · 28/01/2021 22:21

But the scissors aren’t actually touching the fruit?

RubaDubMum89 · 28/01/2021 22:22

Honestly wouldn't warrant much more than a "eer, don't do that again" from me Blush
