To think I've just ruined my chances of this job ?

So I had been preparing for a week for a job interview with a Broadband company (I won't say it's name )
Had my interview ...
One of the questions ...."tell me what you know about broadband ?"
I responded (and I'm cringing )
"Broadband is a high speed internet connection which allows you to connect to the internet quickly and efficiently " then I don't know why I said it ."well unless your with talk talk and you will be there a week"

For a moment I forgot I was in a interview
She laughed but I don't know
Do you think it's ruined my chances ?
The rest of it went well

As long as you weren't interviewing with Talk Talk, i think it's fine!

ivfbabymomma1 · 27/01/2021 14:33

Well as long as it's not talk talk you interviewed for I'm sure that won't have ruined your chances!! Interviewers like to see your human too and not so robotic as some interviews go...

GhostPenguin · 27/01/2021 14:34

Haha! As long as it's not talk talk I think they'll love it. It's never a bad sign when you make them laugh.

Onedropbeat · 27/01/2021 14:35

Unless talk talk piggyback off the supplier you were interviewing with that is

Plonque · 27/01/2021 14:37

Were you interviewing with Talk Talk or any of its affiliates?
I completely agree by the way, talk talk are the worst.

CoffeeRunner · 27/01/2021 14:39

I agree, if the company you were interviewing with have nothing to do with TalkTalk it’s fine! Grin

Holly60 · 27/01/2021 14:48

It will make you stand out from the other candidates. She will remember you at the end of a long day of interviews so I think you’ve probably done yourself a favour

CharlotteRose90 · 27/01/2021 14:53

Aslong as it’s not talk talk you were interviewing for.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/01/2021 14:56

We have a warm, funny and interesting team. We look for people who fit. You would fit.

The woman that came in and slagged off her previous team and boss, using swear words and home diagnosis of MH issues to describe him... not so much.

dontrainonmydoor · 27/01/2021 14:57

No it wasn't talk talk Grin
I said it and in my head I was thinking "what a idiot )
Fingers crossed ha ha

Haha! We all say things we cringe at during interviews. I've done worse! If it otherwise went well I really wouldn't despair, making her laugh was surely a plus. Fingers crossed OP 🤞🏼

I think everyone appreciates some tongue in cheek humour in interviews, shows personality.
whoamongstus · 27/01/2021 15:13

Hahhaha no, that would have made me laugh as an interviewer.

Longdistance · 27/01/2021 15:23

That’s hilarious. I have done interviews in the past and funny things have been said. We’d take them on as it showed personality and someone that can think outside the box.

GhostPenguin · 27/01/2021 19:07

Let us know how you get on! Fingers crossed!

SharkBrilliant · 27/01/2021 20:03

This may make you feel a bit better OP.

I made a total fool of myself on the phone just this afternoon. I missed two calls from a friend today due to work and an “No caller ID” number came up. I answered and a jolly voice I recognised said “Can I speak to Ms SharkBrilliant?”. So I launched into “oh hey! I’m sorry I missed your call earlier! I wasn’t avoiding you, I was in work”, thinking they had called from a withheld number to make me answer... To which they responded that I was mistaken and that they weren’t who I thought they were. Which might have been fine except I doubled down and said “yeah right, I know it’s you! Don’t be so daft, how’ve you been etc etc”.

The penny finally dropped when they told me it was about a job role I’d applied for (and desperately want) that finally had ministerial approval and that they wanted to invite me for interview. I could have died.

I tried to style it out but I am still mortified hours later.....

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 08:04

Is fine!

Oh you've all made me feel better Grin
Well I got a email saying I've been invited to the final stage of the interview.
A virtual meeting
I'm exhausted by this application
It's the 4th part of it
I think a brain surgeons interview would be less stressful
