... Where would it be?

Shamelessly posting for wanderlust-ridden traffic!

I've always wanted to go to Thailand.

OP posts:
OhWhyNot · 24/01/2021 19:07

Sri Lanka with my dad and siblings and their children

Or California to see family

People who have actually been to the Maldives, what do you actually do there? DH and I looked at going for our honeymoon but although it looked gorgeous, it also looked boring.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/01/2021 19:09

@HolaChicos

Couldn't afford it and have never been but would love to go to the Amalfi Coast in the summer. It just looks stunning 😍
Maiori, on the Amalfi coast, is the lovely but cheaper and less glamorous cousin to Amalfi, and only 3 kilometres away from it. We had a fab time there 5 years ago - I'd recommend if we're ever allowed off Plague Island again.

Sunbathe, swim, snorkel, star gaze, sleep, set sail, scope serene sunsets, slurp cocktails, scoff scrumptious seafood...

It probably is boring if you like more action packed holidays, tbf, but it suited us lazy lot perfectly! Grin

Bora bora, we wanted to go for our honeymoon 7 years ago but it was just a bit too far since we already had two of our three dc and were leaving them with my mum.

RusholmeRuffian · 24/01/2021 19:21

I'm a perfect world where money, time and Covid were non issues then a massive road trip across America taking in every single National Park

RusholmeRuffian · 24/01/2021 19:22

IN a perfect world. Obviously I am not a perfect world!

rainbownamebow · 24/01/2021 19:24

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal we went to the Maldives on our honeymoon and we've been back since with the kids. The islands vary greatly, some have more going on than others but on the whole it's as you describe. We're usually a vary active family but absolutely love it there, the diving is incredible and there are many excursions to other islands etc that you can pay extra for. We visited a turtle sanctuary and went to a neighbouring island which taught us a lot about Maldivian culture and cuisine, we swam with Whale sharks, did wine tasting in the middle of the ocean, had a private romantic cinema screening on a remote part of the beach, spa days and ate and drank and swam loads, the service was second to none. We stayed for 10 days each time and could've stayed longer.
@indecisive12 I've been to Malaysian islands. Langkawi is wonderful!
Yeah I had a great time there too!!

Hired a moped & went all over including the night markets. I was in my own but felt totally safe.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/01/2021 19:28

You lucky duck, @rainbownamebow, we've only been the once, and we'd love to go back.

Maybe one day...

HolaChicos · 24/01/2021 19:33

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal thanks for the tip Smile

BigPaperBag · 24/01/2021 19:42

We’re dying to go to Florida. Tbh though, I just want something, anything, to look forward to so I’d probably go anywhere!

Casschops · 24/01/2021 19:48

I was due to fly out to see my cousin in Oz who I haven't seen since 2012. She has had two children and will have had a thids by March 2021. It broke my heart when lockdown was announced 3 days before my flights were booked last year. We speak weekly out kids know eachother but have never met.

hartof · 24/01/2021 19:50

10 nights in Orlando and 5 nights in New York. The two places I am missing so much right now! Won't be happening for a couple of years unfortunately

onyourway · 24/01/2021 19:57

I dreamt I was in the Dutch Antilles the other night. I've never been, but that's where I want to go now.,

ToffeePennie · 24/01/2021 19:59

A cheap kid friendly all inclusive in Spain/Portugal.
I don’t care really, just want to get in the sunshine and take my kids on a plane!

CakeRequired · 24/01/2021 20:00

I saw an awesome holiday yesterday in Vietnam. A tour across the whole country, everything organised for you, top hotels to stay in, tours to go on. It just sounded amazing and it looks like such a beautiful country.

Chocolateandamaretto · 24/01/2021 20:05

Scotland, Lake District, Yorkshire....don’t miss flying tbh but a change of scenery to somewhere beautiful wouldn’t go amiss.

We were there this time last year. Stunning country and the whole CV19 was starting and we thought it was all a bit of an over reaction......what did we know?!?
CovoidOfAllHumanity · 24/01/2021 20:15

I have so many planned and ready to go in my head
A week on the Amalfi Coast
2 weeks in Japan
10 days in Morocco Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains
An African Safari

I feel like DC are just the right age to enjoy a proper holiday with now but it will only be a few short years until they no longer want to.

Mary46 · 24/01/2021 20:32
