Sexist BBC - Priti Patel COVID briefings

Gettinggrumpier · 21/01/2021 17:21

I'm not keen on the woman at all.

However, why are COVID briefings given by the male government ministers shown on BBC 1, but today's briefing and the last one done by Priti Patel is only being shown on the BBC news channel?

Maybe she shouldn't be in the job, but that could be said of her other male colleagues. So why is she being treated differently.

Signs of sexism, racism or what? What do you think the BBC powers that be are up to? Whatever it is, it is shameful of the BBC.

Don’t think it’s sexism. Probably not a major briefing today or some scheduling reason.

Fufumuji · 21/01/2021 17:33

I don't think people don't want to see Priti Patel because she's a woman. It's just because she's Priti Patel.

june2007 · 21/01/2021 17:34

I don,t think the BBC looked at who is ppresenting before decided what chanel to put it on. (unless it was pm)

RaspberryCoulis · 21/01/2021 17:39

It's because there's nothing big to announce.

WhatHaveIFound · 21/01/2021 17:45

I had to turn it off in the end. She annoys me by never answering a question and I couldn't stand her banging on about the passenger locator form.

I flew for work several times last year and it wasn't checked once. Neither did anyone check whether I was quarantining (I did every time). To say that we have secure borders is just a joke!

SeldomFollowedIt · 21/01/2021 17:53

She’s absolutely awful. I have to turn the TV off when she’s on. She does not answer the question.

She’s a massive twat. Honestly I have never disliked a politician as much as I dislike her.

She is a grade A .

SeasonFinale · 21/01/2021 17:53

Because it was a minor announcement rather than a major one. Some people look for sexism where there is none.

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 21/01/2021 18:01

It’s a briefing rather than a big announcement so they just put them on the news channel rather than change regular programming. Nothing to do with who she is (other than the govt don’t use her for big announcements I guess)

Gettinggrumpier · 21/01/2021 18:02

Next you will be telling me, a black woman, that I have a chip on my shoulder! Hmm

So, if nothing is amiss tell me what other COVID TV briefing has been relegated to the BBC news channel only?

Or is it that the BBC are sparing as many people from her seeing her smug face?

OP posts:
squirrelloveranon · 21/01/2021 18:15

Probably this, that awful smirk she does.

Does anyone even watch the Covid -propaganda- briefings anymore - I certainly don't. The death and infection rate is enough to tell me the entire government is useless, the Pritster included.

GirlsBlouse17 · 21/01/2021 18:19

I was more annoyed at journalists asking when we can all book our holidays

CallistoSol · 21/01/2021 18:20

It's because she is stupid with a stupid smirking face and irritatin annoyin pronunciation.

Propagandalf · 21/01/2021 18:23

^^ as previous post, it's covid-1984 propaganda being broadcast onto our telescreens. The telescreen is also watching you. Big Brother is watching you.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/01/2021 18:27

Is it not rather that she is assigned less important topics and therefore has a less visible slot?

And that probably is down to sexism at some level. Not only competence otherwise none of them would be in jobs.

ClutchingMyPearlsAppropriately · 21/01/2021 18:30

Next you will be telling me, a black woman, that I have a chip on my shoulder! hmm

How would the pp have known if you're a black woman or not if you didn't just say. So even if the poster had said you have a chip on your shoulder, the poster would have been saying it to a random person rather than a black woman.

Is the pp psychic?

Bluesername · 21/01/2021 18:31

It's just because she's Priti Patel.

In that case can't they sideline some of the male politicians who keep popping up, just because they are

ExVirginTitsInAbsentia · 21/01/2021 18:32

Pritt stick Patel....she always looks like someone has wound her neck down...

LondonBus38 · 21/01/2021 18:35

I don't think people don't want to see Priti Patel because she's a woman. It's just because she's Priti Patel.

MorganKitten · 21/01/2021 18:35

The last few have been on bbc news.

Runssometimes · 21/01/2021 18:38

Don’t know OP, could be but u haven’t been keeping track of what announcements are broadcast where. She’s high ranking so should deserve a good slot but I think doesn’t appeal to many. I hate her language and policies. I don’t really like to wish ill on anyone, if she died peacefully in her sleep tonight I wouldn’t be sad.

Wall0ps · 21/01/2021 18:40

@CallistoSol

It's because she is stupid with a stupid smirking face and irritatin annoyin pronunciation.
I couldn’t have put it better
Arobase · 21/01/2021 18:41

They've had her and other women on the televised briefings before so obviously they're not discriminating. They've also broadcast briefings from men only on the news as well.

Are you looking for any stick to beat the BBC with?

Runssometimes · 21/01/2021 18:42

Meant to say I haven’t been tracking. Not you!

peak2021 · 21/01/2021 18:45

All Covid briefings should go on the News Channel and not BBC1. Much as I agree that the only woman allowed by Mr Johnson to lead a briefing should not be treated differently from her cabinet colleagues.

longwayoff · 21/01/2021 19:15

Strut and smirk. She is bloody annoying and so are the rest of the Cabinet. Stick them all on one channel. Did Sky show this?
