Do you have ''your chair'', where you always sit, and no one else sits, or do you all sit in different places each day?

In your living room this is.

YANBU = i have my own chair (and no one else sits in it)
YABU = we all swap around and everyone sits anywhere.

Further more (if you like to elaborate) :

  • Do the whole family have their own chair?
  • What happens if you get fed up with 'your' seat. Is it tough luck?
  • Do you have control over moving the furniture round if you get bored or do you have to have a family conference about it?

I have my end of the sofa, next to the side table, lamp and a good visual distance from the tv. Then it’s the dog in the middle, and my partner in the corner bit of the corner sofa, he likes to spread out.

When I go to bed, the dog takes over my spot, he lies on the cushion I have been using, and I cover him up with the blanket...

My partner uses my side if I’m not there, but moves immediately when I get in! Same with the dog.

For dining room, we have a position at the table but the chairs are all the same so I would not know if the chairs are swapped.

For sofas, no fixed position or seat. We seldom have time to sit in the lounge anyway.

For desk chair, yes we all have our own chairs.

My chair is a bloody magnet for visitors, drives me mad. Myyyyyy chair

Laiste · 21/01/2021 19:59

Keratinsmooth there's only one visitor (not that we have any anymore) who always sits in my chair (my end of big sofa). It's very obvious it's my end 'cos my phone and diary (and the odd nail varnish and handcream) is on the arm. There are lots of other comfy seats to sit in and i wonder why he does it.

Yes we all have our own boys of the couch we sit on
Also have our own set seats round the dining table

Just better that way Grin

IceDiscoSkater · 21/01/2021 20:03

Bits not boys

MsSquiz · 21/01/2021 20:05

I usually have my "spot" on the sofa. If DH sits in, he will move when I come in the room (without me asking!) but if the cat is sitting there, I will sit somewhere else, rather than move her!

BigPlanes · 21/01/2021 20:05

YABU. We sit wherever. Depends what you are up to what seat is best! Also depends on which family members are about.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 21/01/2021 20:07

I have my seat on the sofa, I will remove anyone else who sits in it Grin

MinnieJackson · 21/01/2021 21:44

I have a sofa with a little lamp by it for reading Grin my happy place. Then DH has his sofa. The three children have a sofa. Then the dogs have a sofa Blush

MinnieJackson · 21/01/2021 21:48

And seat changing is not tolerated! The kids can come and cuddle with me, or the dogs but it's still MY seat. I once saw dh on there looking so happy, eating twiglets, gripping the remote and shoes on it! he's obviously eyeing it up! Grin he'd be welcome to cuddle aswell but ours are small and it's a bit tight with the lockdown weightgain 😂

I have a small sofa in a little alcove within the main dining/kitchen area. Anyone can sit there generally but the kids know not to leave any toys there as it is my breastfeeding area when downstairs. If I need to feed the baby everyone is expected to vacate that chair. It is literally the one place I have in my house that isn't taken over by washing or toys 🤦‍♀️
