Aibu to think our planned multiple family holiday in England in may half term will not be going ahead? (Family think i am)

Yabu - travelling for holidays in this country, and household mixing, will be allowed by may

Yanbu - they won’t be allowed

Not a clue. I wouldn't pin my hopes on it but I wouldn't discount it either. It's a long long way away. Alot has happened between September and now. And alot happened between April and August last year.

I really doubt it.

There's a lot of people who just seem to be ignoring whats happening and pretending this year is going to be fine. Seen people on FB still planning weddings for over 100 people in the summer. Confused I can't imagine weddings will be cancelled, but we will still be in tiers for the rest of the year no doubt, and even tier 0 only allows 50 max.

Save yourself the problems in the future and just cancel the holiday.

We are supposed to be going to a wedding at the beginning of May. In order to go I need to book the dog into Kennels and he has to have a taster day before hand. I've decided not to bother. I doubt very much things will be back to normal enough for there to be capacity at a wedding for the wife and child of a friend to be invited.

Depressing isn't it?!

bridgetreilly · 20/01/2021 11:37

I think it's impossible to know either way.

MustardMitt · 20/01/2021 11:39

I’m hoping against hope it’ll be ok as we have one booked too - postponed from October.

barofsoap · 20/01/2021 11:40

I think it is hard to know but things likely to be restricted for some time to come. In some ways worse to plan everything and then plug to be pulled at the last minute.

LegoAndLolDolls · 20/01/2021 11:41

I have a holiday booked in Devon and my thinking is that it's a bonus if it goes ahead, I wont be shocked if it doesnt. Its booked with a company that offered a refund due to covid reasons at booking.

I'm staying open minded. Expecting the worst and anything more is a bonus which just about sums up life now

It depends whereabouts in the UK you are and where you’re going to iI’d guess. If you’re in Cornwall and staying in Cornwall, you may have more of a chance than if you’re from London and going to Kent.

But I’d bank on it still not being allowed until next year, I think we’ll ease restrictions over the summer and tighten again in autumn.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/01/2021 19:47

We're also going then - a rearrangement from last year

TheGoogleMum · 20/01/2021 19:50

We have a small multi household uk holiday in May planned (rearranged from last year). I really hope it will go ahead! I think it has a chance

SnowFields · 20/01/2021 19:50

I think we are likely to come out of lockdown after Easter (not before) and then enter a tier system. More than one household, indoors for a holiday is really not something I would get my hopes up about. I’d be fairly pessimistic about the holiday going ahead for just one household as it is.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 20/01/2021 19:52

I nearly posted this the other day.

Postponed from same time last year. Never thought at the time we would be in a position where it mite not happen again 😔

I think holidays in the UK will be allowed by then but probably not for more than 1 family. Really really hope I'm wrong!

Swingometer · 20/01/2021 19:52

How many different households?

If it's just 2 then I think by May half term it's possible that may be allowed

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 20/01/2021 19:53

That said...by spring bank, all over 50s and CEV/CV should have had at least 1 dose of the vaccine (at the current rate) so maybe it'll be ok?!

movingonup20 · 20/01/2021 19:59

I'm hopeful for being able to travel in may, as soon as restrictions lift in straight onto booking.com!

Humblebumbleoh · 20/01/2021 20:41

Thanks all!
