To be thrilled that it’s raining heavily so that I don’t need to go for another sodding walk?

I add the proviso that I don’t have young children and therefore won’t be missing the caged animal need to escape outdoors as I did when dc were little. I do have two neuro diverse teens but they are pretty independent.

I’m going to do some work and then lounge beatifically on the sofa later this afternoon and try and find something fun to watch on Netflix. I might have some chocolate (if teen dd hasn’t finished it [Hmm). No sodding walking - guilt free.

So YANBU to be glad for one day to not walk guilt-free

Or YABU because

Yes I thought the same!!!

Icanseegreenshoots · 20/01/2021 10:39

I can actually do anymore walks, I just can no longer face it. It is making me feel more depressed not less! Trudging in the rain, the bleak landscape is just so miserable. I have opted to light candles inside and eat warm food instead Brew

BachelorDog · 20/01/2021 10:42

Another one here who has to go out again with the dog. But if I didn't I would totally be curled up on the sofa, watching Hunters and cracking open the last of the Christmas chocolates.

Lucieintheskye · 20/01/2021 10:43

Am I the only one who enjoys walking in the rain just for the satisfaction of having a warm shower and climbing under my duvet when I get home?

also DH is working from home and he's told me to stop pestering him and sent me out in my wellies SOS i don't like rain

ScrapThatThen · 20/01/2021 10:46

I put it off this morning (sodding work RED challenge) now it's raining worse.

maddening · 20/01/2021 10:50

The joy of owning a cross trainer 🤔

Springersrock · 20/01/2021 10:54

And to think that prior to all this, I enjoyed them so much that I have a load of outdoor gear and several books of walking routes in and around my area.

Yes, same here

I used to love having a stomp along the beach with the dog in bad weather

I used to love exploring the beautiful place I live in, walking for miles and and watching the sunset or taking my dog and my camera along the river.

It can get to fuck now. I’m done with walking

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 20/01/2021 10:57

Haha yep sorry-not-sorry it is pissing down here too!!

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 20/01/2021 10:59

You don't have to do anything 🤷

I find that the idea of the rain is worst than the rain itself. I still go out because I want to, it's not that bad and I shower and change when I come home.

Then I take the kids and I have to change again!

I feel claustrophobic if I am stuck indoors all day. I hate walking for the sake of walking, so I run.

rbmilliner · 20/01/2021 11:00

I'm so envious. I know 3.5 year old need s to go out but it's like pulling teeth to actually get her out and we're both sooooo fed up of going a wading through the mud to get to a rather small local play ground.
If I could I would'nt bother either.

Graciebobcat · 20/01/2021 11:03

YABVU. I love going for longer walks and feel more trapped and miserable when it's wet and muddy as many of my favourite paths are impassable. Can't wait for better weather to get outside more and out in the garden.

bigbluebus · 20/01/2021 11:04

DH is furloughed for 1 day a week atm. The chosen activity on this day is usually a long walk. He hasn't suggested it today as he knows I'm not keen to traipse voluntarily through muddy fields in the pouring rain. We gave, however, been out to buy new replacement walking boots and a waterproof coat so I don't think it'll be long before I'm back out in the rain - so I feel your pain OP. Enjoy your day in the dry.

Lansonmaid · 20/01/2021 11:07

Got a dog to walk so not really an option- but as he’s a big wuss it probably won’t be too far. And I’ve got hens and alpacas to feed later on. It will just be good to get away from my laptop for a while though, so it will be full wetties and wellies, and a cup of hot chocolate when I get back

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/01/2021 11:07

Thank God I work all day in the NHS or I would spend the day in my PJs on the sofa cuddling the cat.
By June, I'd have turned into some kind of boneless invertebrate that oozes around the house when it can be bothered to move.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 20/01/2021 11:08

hehe..we've just had really windy wet weather, I was so relieved to have a guilt free Netflix binge as opposed to another day of surviving hordes of tourists/traffic chaos in 100' heat (we are on summer hols here still).
Even made a tray of roasties to celebrate the cooler wet weather..Enjoy your home and tv downtime OP.

AndcalloffChristmas · 20/01/2021 11:20

I know this is lighthearted but I think YABU.

You can choose not to go for a walk any day - no one is forcing you. I think it’s mean to be “thrilled” that no one else can go for a nice walk - not without getting soaked - just because you don’t want to.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 20/01/2021 11:28

I havent got small children or dogs....im just lazy and have no desire to walk the streets in freezing cold crappy weather so i don't.
Come to think of it i didn't go out walking during the first lockdown either...i was however pottering around in the garden all day.

Trouba · 20/01/2021 11:35

I'm so over fucking walks, I have dogs though so it needs to continue, but it's miserable that being the only thing I do out of the house for "fun" at the moment.

hennaoj · 20/01/2021 12:01

Even my rough collie doesn't want to go out!

namechangefail2020 · 20/01/2021 12:02

Oh same! Not even getting dressed, wooooo

Distiller91 · 20/01/2021 12:05

Nope, yanbu. No walks today for me and 3.5 yr old. We are in pjs currently having a picnic on the living room floor watching Julia Donaldson stuff and its great.

Notcontent · 20/01/2021 12:13

I would go a bit mad if I didn’t go for a run or walk daily - I also know that my body will not thank me if I sit around all day. The idea of going out when it’s cold or raining or never attractive but once you are out it’s not so bad! You just have to wear the right clothing. And have a hot tea when you get back.

Meruem · 20/01/2021 12:24

I don’t have dogs or young children so am happy to stay inside. I’m walking plenty, cleaning the whole house which has many stairs. Also going to carry on with decorating so up and down a ladder. Windows open in rotation letting air in. Some people need to get outside for their mental health, I’m not one of them.

I only walk outside if it’s to go somewhere, or on holiday. I don’t do beach holidays so mine involve a lot of walking. I don’t drive so any time I go out, walking is involved. I guess for people who do drive everywhere, they have to then take walks separately. But for me, I see absolutely no reason to walk around my block for the sake of it!

TierFourTears · 20/01/2021 12:33

YABU.
You dont need an excuse to stay inside.
But after being shouted at, threatened, sworn at and general unplesentness aimed in my direction, I'd really like to just get out of the building for 30 mins (or to be at home with my kids).
Thankfully the nastiness was just down a phoneline.

ColourMeExhausted · 20/01/2021 13:47

Jealous! Freezing and miserable here. Made it out for a walk and feet were blocks of ice waiting around for DC to piss about playing. Still cold two hours later. Feeling off colour today and want to take to my bed, but work beckons...
