Discount for friends

Hi everyone

I have recently lauched my own accessories business - handmade bags and wallets. A few of my friends expressed their desire to purchase something, however they hinted that I should give them some sort of friendly discount.

What would you do? The bags are not exactly cheap (£100 to £300), but fairly priced considering the amount of work and materials that goes into making them.

Thanks in advance

The sensible way of marketing something when you are hoping friends and family will buy your product, or service, is to tell them "the price is £X, but as it's you I can do it for £Y", where Y is the actual price you want for your product anyway, and X is 10% or 15% higher.
That way, you get what you want. They think you are doing them a favour. They go away thinking they have a bargain. Everyone likes a bargain. Everyone likes to believe they have got a good deal.

Standard practice when people are trying to flog you anything from double glazing to new cars to bits and bobs in a moroccon market.
