What the hell can I do?

I started a new job last week- it’s been really stressful with home schooling etc and I have been struggling.

On a Sunday evening I need to send a project to my boss for the whole team to work from next week - last week I messed this up and so it’s important I get it right this week. It is about 12 hours work.

I did it on our home computer... and was going to copy it across to the work network this evening.

DH has decided to mess about with the graphics cards and has killed the PC. Angry. He is trying to get it working again but I need to complete the project and send it by 8 ( it’s been left to the last minute as I’ve been doing child care every spare minute.

What the utter fuck can I do?

Thanks to all the advice on here. In the nick of time he managed to extract the key file for me. Email has been sent with the required attachments and large glass of wine is poured.

Lessons learned about work flow and back ups...

Now to calm down to get ready for tomorrow...

@Swimmingiscancelled. So pleased it's sorted Flowers.

You need to have a conversation with your DH. Why have you been doing childcare all weekend while you've also been scrambling to meet this deadline? What has he been doing?

Swimmingiscancelled · 17/01/2021 20:17

We are tag teaming with child care. He was doing childcare all Saturday while I did the original work. He is wfh with 2 under 7 3 days a week while I am out of the house. So I have been doing homeschool the rest of the time to let him catch up with work. This is not the issue. His decision to upgrade the computer without checking I was finished / backed up is the issue...

Pleased to hear you're sharing the load. Sorry for misunderstanding, but it did sound from your original post as if caring for the kids was getting in the way of doing your work.

Why don't you have a work laptop? Totally unreasonable to be doing this on a home pc

This may amaze you, but companies that now have all staff working from home, who didnt before, they did not just go straight out and buy everyone a laptop! And they didn't have a magic laptop tree either.
An awful lot of people have been using their own equipment to work on for many months now.
