He said me walking slow is annoying

I've been seeing someone for about a month. All has been great but while out walking he said me walking slowly is annoying. He loves walking and the great outdoors. I can't walk quickly due to iron deficient anemia which takes my breath away if I walk quickly. Hills are a particular struggle. He knows I'm anemic. AIBU to be slightly upset by his comment?

I have horrendous anaemia (that isn't as easily dealt with as previous posts on here seem to think it is), along with a neuro thing and EDS. Like you, hills are my nemesis and I'm not the speediest walker, especially not at 5'3" as it is!

My partner knows all this and walks at my pace, while also thinking ahead if there are any enormous hills and if we can avoid them. Plus if we're in a group he'll casually suggest a diff route or similar if it involves a lot of hills so that I don't feel embarrassed. He did this from the start of us dating.

If he's annoyed at you about it now, it's unlikely to improve.

He sounds very abusive.

Has he ever known anyone else with the condition?
Depending on your age it can take a while to relearn something as ingrained as walking pace after 20, 30, 40 years of doing

I'm 50/50 on this, me and DH can not walk together because he says his legs physically hurt when he has to walk at my pace. So I set off before him and he catches up later on.

When I had to walk with my much much slower sister I realised how frustration it must be to him so stopped resenting him over it at that point.
