As usual, the wee man is away staying at his papa’s and I have lay awake all night. Absolutely wide awake, dh snoring beside me. My one night off and I can’t switch off! I have a few hours until he gets home, any tips to drift off when you are not tired but know you need to sleep???

Ps I know this is not an Aibu but it always gets most traffic and I need your advice!

My gran always used to say that it doesnt matter if you dont sleep, the point is to rest. So dont put yourself under pressure.

What always helps me is to read articles online - choose a fairly academic topic and start reading about it and relax.

I could normally fall asleep at any time, and frequently do, I feel tired a lot during lockdown, boredom probably, but I have not slept all night and I am now kicking myself!

Well, maybe sleep wasnt actually what your body needed. Maybe you needed more of a chance to relax your body and give your mind a rest, which you did. So in that sense - mission accomplished!
