AIBU to ask for your recommendations for fun online social events for large groups?

I work in Higher Education and it's obviously a very difficult time for students at the moment - particularly the poor first year students, who have had very little opportunity to meet others on their course.

With so many students studying remotely, I am hoping to arrange some fun online events to facilitate a way of them socialising and getting to know each other. Ideally this would be something where they can mix - maybe working in teams/break out rooms/small groups.

I was thinking about things like quizzes, online games, escape rooms, human bingo, hackathons, etc - but wanted to ask the lovely MN community if you have any good ideas - maybe something you have done with your companies when working from home, or perhaps with friends and family, or things happening in other universities? I'd love to hear any recommendations. There are around 150 in each cohort, but they can be split into smaller groups, if required. I also have a budget.

Thank you so much, in advance, for any suggestions you may have. My students are wonderful and I am just so sorry that they are missing out on such a vital part of the University experience :-(

Get them to watch this...it's a table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High with all kinds of stars taking part...then ask them which films they'd like to read.

If the group is too large, do two or three...the others can watch...then their turn is next.

Do you have a budget? Can it involve booze?

Just seen it's 150! That would be a lot of casting to do...if each movie had say 8-10 at most in it, you'd be making them for ages! Maybe some students would enjoy it and others not...so the ones who want to watch can give out fake 'awards' at the end...voting for 'Best actor" etc...and silly prizes like "Most Shocking Over actor" etc.
