Thank you for these threads; I have been following them since the run up to the election and have learnt so much about American politics.

Anyhoo - I have nothing intelligent to add, but I was pondering the state of SCROTUS's mind this evening.

I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall of whichever room in the Whitehouse he is, currently.
This is how I imagine him...

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom

I've just thought of a thread title for tomorrow: Biden (as in 'bidding", in case it's only obvious to me!) Goodbye to Trump. (Or somesuch). Probably been done before, though.
I don't think we have played with Biden's name yet.

@rosegoldwatcher
Good to see you!

Oh yes, I would love to know what he is doing this evening. We've been through 4 years of hell with him, I think we're entitled to a little rubbing it in and hoping he is having a big fried chicken meltdown!

Pence, McConnell, and McCarthy are skipping Trump's departure ceremony.
www.businessinsider.com/pence-mcconnell-mccarthy-are-skipping-trump-departure-ceremony-2021-1

Axios reported on Tuesday that McConnell and McCarthy will attend a morning mass service scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m. with Biden at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, DC, down the street from the White House.

McConnell and McCarthy are not the only former Trump allies to snub his departure ceremony. This is a sign of the rift between Trump and Republican leaders, which was caused by the president's role in inciting the January 6 Capitol riot, for which the House impeached him on January 13.

The Washington Post reported that Trump's own Vice President, Mike Pence, will not be at his departure because he is also attending Biden's inauguration ceremony at the Capitol at noon and won't be able to make both work logistically.

How about giving the new VP a look in for future thread titles? Perhaps:

"it is easier for a Kamala to go through the eye of a needle than for Trump to get into heaven."

PerkingFaintly · 19/01/2021 20:18

The real danger now is too many people think "We did fascism, and now it's all OK again"

This.

BruceAndNosh · 19/01/2021 20:22

Isn't the current thread title a play on Biden's name?
Biding our time....

BruceAndNosh · 19/01/2021 20:25

Since Joe exotic is in the news (hoping for a pardon)and we're hoping for a boring President...

What about
Well, pardon me boys it's Joe Non-exotic Biden...

TheNorthWestPawsage · 19/01/2021 20:27

Senator Hawley still trying to be relevant. Voting to block quick consideration of Biden's DHS nominee. What a tool.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 19/01/2021 20:31

Trump's videoed "leaving message" due to be released soon apparently.

CBA

Lweji · 19/01/2021 20:36

Something for Trump to reflect on.

Some of the crimes carry a 25 year sentence. Wishful thinking.

Hawley is a bellend.... sorry cant even think of a more diplomatic term 😂

DuncinToffee · 19/01/2021 21:00

Confirmed

Normally Trump and Pence's schedules are released at night. VP's office issues his early today, confirming he's going to Biden's inauguration and not Trump's farewell ceremony tomorrow.

New thread should be
Donald Trump: You’re Fired

Roussette · 19/01/2021 21:10

Bye, then, Mr ex President

DuncinToffee · 19/01/2021 21:15

From the BBC

On his final full day in office, outgoing president Donald Trump delivered a farewell speech from the White House.

Currently locked out of his personal social media accounts, Trump struck a concilatory yet defiant tone in the video released via the government's official social media accounts.

"We did what we came here to do - and so much more," he said. "I took on the tough battles, the hardest fights, the most difficult choices – because that’s what you elected me to do."

He warned that "the greatest danger" now facing the country was "a loss of confidence in our national greatness".

The 45th president ran through actions taken by his administration - from "stand[ing] up to China like never before" to "a series of historic peace deals in the Middle East".

He added: "I am especially proud to be the first president in decades who has started no new wars."

Referring to the riot at the US Capitol on 6 January, he said: "All Americans were horrified by the assault on the Capitol... It can never be tolerated."

Trump acknowledged that a new administration would take office, but said: "I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning."

BruceAndNosh · 19/01/2021 21:16

I'm not wasting 20 minutes of my life listening to that.
I'll just read Aaron Rupar's summary

BruceAndNosh · 19/01/2021 21:17

Maybe the next thread shouldn't be Trump #122
Maybe it should be Biden #1
