My 13yr old lad has been fine all day, around 7ish says he his feeling funny, has a sore throat and abit dizzy. Hes been in bed since, I took his temp at half 7ish he was fine no temp, I've just took it again and he's 37.8.
He has left the house twice in the last two weeks, once with me at Costco and to the chip shop tonight at around 5ish. This is what's making me think might just be a dodgy chipshop?? No one else had chips and me and my girls went Costco no signs or anything from us?? What does it sound like to you? I've ordered a test to be delivered just incase😔

Sounds exact like the symptoms have(I also have a cough). I have had two negative tests but my husband is positive.

You have done the right thing getting him tested. I believe there is no longer a set temp to go by but just hot to the touch.

Kidsaregrim · 16/01/2021 14:02

@Indecisive12 she said all that?

You know who will be alone? The person who her child gives covid to and has to die alone!

People like you who justify this behaviour is why the country is losing people to the virus, her child could of potentially infected 13 people if he has the virus, all for a “chippy” tea! Worth it?

Stick to the rules and reduce the risk, it’s not asking for much!

AmoElCafe · 16/01/2021 14:06

The OP hasn’t indicated that she’s done anything outside of the rules.
Going to Costco and to the chip shop with your child is perfectly within the rules.

Indecisive12 · 16/01/2021 14:08

@Kidsaregrim the chippy tea is essential for the shop owners.
No the OP didn’t say all that, I’m suggesting we don’t judge her for the information we don’t know. We don’t know why she took all the children, yes if they were old enough to stay home they should have or if there was someone home but we don’t know the OPs circumstances.

NewYearNewLockdown · 16/01/2021 15:11

Give over Kidsaregrim, do you want us all to be locked up not ever going out? The chip shop was open so OP's DS is allowed to go to said chip shop.

How is your DS @Jojojo32, did you get the test result back?

roses2 · 16/01/2021 15:16

End of November my DS(7) was running around, playing during the day then suddenly started crying at dinner complaining of a headache, nausea and had a temp of 39. This lasted 3 days. He had a negative test and no one else in the house got sick. There's still the normal set of winter bugs going around with similar symptoms.....

I’m having a takeaway tonight which I will collect in person....don’t be too mad @Kidsaregrim 🤣😂

ProfessorInkling · 16/01/2021 15:29

Kidsaregrim I don’t think the internet is for you right now, love. Step away from the laptop. You don’t sound well. Hope you get some help x

How very dare you!! Cancel the takeaway and have bread and water, it's the only way we can save lives.
Bitbusyattheminute · 16/01/2021 15:44

I had slight scratchy throat and stinging eyes. Like a bit of hayfever. I only tested cos kids were isolating and I wondered. Positive test 30 hours later. I didn't tick any of the boxes when I tested, although fever hit big time that night.

TheSockMonster · 16/01/2021 15:54

I hope your DS feels better soon OP.

I’m laughing at the idea of a fortnightly trip to buy food at Costco is somehow against the rules. Delivery slots are like gold dust here and even if I could get one, I’d feel pretty shitty taking it from those that are shielding.

I presume the chip shop is click and collect like ours. Phone up with order, everyone waits outside and they put the bagged order onto a table, shut the door, person collects order and goes. Incredibly low risk and helps keep people’s livelihoods going.

I know people are scared, but the sensible restrictions we have are working (although started too late, one might argue)

Jojojo32 · 16/01/2021 18:04

A few fun few facts for the perfect mumnetter, 1, I'm a single parent so taking my 4, 6 and 13 Yr old was the option I had.
2, my son was the only one who went to chip shop it's literally across the road from me. He didn't come into contact with anyone.

I only received the test today I have done it and sent it back so hopefully get results Monday or Tuesday? Not sure how long it takes? Hes still not right up and down so just wait to see.

Great news, hope hes feeling better soon. Hope you feel a bit better without the worry too.
TheSockMonster · 18/01/2021 21:43

Brilliant news! Hope he feels better soon.

Comefromaway · 18/01/2021 21:48

Don’t feel you have to justify yourself. We go to the chippy every week. It’s one of the few meals/sources of protein autistic Ds will eat.

Life is hard enough as it is.

AmateurDad · 18/01/2021 21:52

Well for humans, food is essential to, you know, survive?
