to ask what you use your Tile trackers for?

I've been given an Essentials set and want to use them wisely.

Put one on a tiny remote control we keep losing.

Not sure what else.

Are they waterproof enough to put on a pet?

The tile sport is waterproof but it only works if they are close by.

I have one on my car keys, one on my work keys, one tucked in my purse and also use it to locate my phone by pressing the tile button.

DS has some in toolboxes (works in construction)

Ok, so I would need to get the sport version for my dogs collar. thanks.

I'm thinking post lockdown, one will go in my DCs pocket when we are out shopping. They are a runner!

I have one on my house keys, one on my car keys, a slim one in my phone case and one in my hand bag.

I was given a set for Christmas and . . . nothing so far.

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 16/01/2021 09:30

These sound interesting! How do they work?

Justaboutawake · 16/01/2021 09:50

I have one hidden in the upholstery of my car. If it gets stolen I can track it and find it (can you tell I live in a dodgy area? Wink)

ferretface · 16/01/2021 10:07

We only have ours on car keys although my husband is forever losing tape measures so maybe I should put one on there!

Don't tile only work at relatively close range (within Bluetooth range?) So wouldn't be useful for tracking cars, kids or dogs? I think you need a standalone GPS tracker for those applications.

Letseatgrandma · 16/01/2021 10:08

I looked at these for DH before Xmas but didn’t end up getting one.

Do you have to pay a monthly subscription for it and does the app drain your phone battery?

Justaboutawake · 16/01/2021 10:17

@ferretface DP has informed me that he got me one that has a GPS chip and will monitor for up to 60miles from my phone. Has a battery life of 2 years apparently?
Car is currently a few miles away getting a service and I can see it pinging on my app.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 16/01/2021 12:49

The new ones have replaceable batteries (yippee) and you can subscribe to a premium service now which gives you access to the past 30 days, so i guess now useable for finding cars etc? It always used to be bluetooth range only.

I had the old ones and now have 2 new ones (keys and car keys) but confess i most often use them in reverse to find my phone by pressing the tile button. I haven’t tried the premium service, but they are very useful things, esp as i have the memory of a goldfish since having a baby.

MadamFlutterby · 16/01/2021 12:54

I've got mine on my keys, my sons keys, my camera and his camera. (Worked a treat when he was abroad on his last school trip (before lockdown) as the blighter is terrible at keeping in touch

BendyLikeBeckham · 16/01/2021 17:21

interesting about cars. Can I do that with mine?

OP posts:
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/01/2021 10:27

I was given one as a promotional gift but dont like things that attract monthly subscriptions as generally you end up paying more long run than if you bought the product up front. So after the initial year expired I did not renew it. You can buy subscription free GPS type trackers elsewhere, we have one for our cats collar.

holycrapweasel · 18/01/2021 10:38

I have sewn one into my child's favourite soft toy. This disgusting dogeared thing is the love of her life and we'd all be miserable if it were to be lost. When the poor raggedy thing has been thrown behind the sofa, dropped in a hedge and nosedived out of a shopping trolly then I've been able to easily locate it.
