To think a "breathing" sex robot should be illegal

CrotchBurn · 14/01/2021 18:30

Apparently there is an AI sex robot that now has the feature of breathing (there's a video in the article in the link).

I don't really care how these ultra realistic sex dolls might help people for various reasons. I think in a world where men overwhelming treat women as unfeeling objects (yeah okay NAMALT), further blurring the lines between womens bodies and inanimate objects you can do what you want to is dangerous.

I think they should be illegal.

@JayAlfredPrufrock
It would be like having one of those Furby toys that never shuts up. You put it in the closet and it’s like a monster is breathing in there. In and out, in and out. Until the battery dies of course.
But seriously, a vibrator has an off switch so it can be turned off when not in use. No one says that by turning it off, a woman is a pervert who is fantasising about cutting off a man’s cock.

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/01/2021 22:07

@TheBuffster

Yeah because the statistics of cock cutting women is way higher than abusive men.

Ow. Wait.

No they’re not. Whatever gave you the idea they are?
JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2021 22:08

@PlanDeRaccordement

So what if dildos don’t look like men, they look like their cocks
And some women do kill and mutilate men, in some cases cutting off their cocks.

Stats please

TheBuffster · 14/01/2021 22:09

'Ido wonder if sex dolls have a place though. I watched something recently about people with physical and intellectual disabilities who crave sex but find it difficult to have their needs met for example.'

These things are made to make money. The people you speak of would be a very small target audience. Such is the popularity of these 'products' I expect the main market for them lies elsewhere.

In a really creepy elsewhere.

Voice0fReason · 14/01/2021 22:10

@RetailGail

if it saves a real person from being abused then possibly has its use

op, how on earth did you come across that article?

It's more likely that the doll gives the men an opportunity to practice and enjoy doing whatever he wants to do. It makes it easier for him to do the same to a woman. He becomes used to using that doll to serve his desires.

If you genuinely think they would reduce abuse, do you think they should be made in child form to prevent children from being abused? Or do you think perhaps, that would increase an abuser's desires?

It is sickening.

Pepperxo · 14/01/2021 22:13

@Snowvid19

I do wonder if sex dolls have a place though. I watched something recently about people with physical and intellectual disabilities who crave sex but find it difficult to have their needs met for example.
There's plenty of women with a learning disability who want/ dream of a relationship but quite a number of males I have met with a learning disability want what they term a "normal" girl or a porn star. Male entitlement is everywhere.
TheBuffster · 14/01/2021 22:14

The patriarchy is strong in this one.

Lucieintheskye · 14/01/2021 22:14

Huh. So the Karen thing really does work!

Let the incels shag and choke some plastic, they seem to be having more fun than you and they aren't doing any harm with it. Maybe they should make breathing male sex robots, might interest some of you.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2021 22:17

WTAF had Karen got to do with this!??

TheBuffster · 14/01/2021 22:18

Oh good Karen burn.Hmm
We're on Mumsnet silly, most of us have living proof of our overactive loins.
We don't need no creepy robot.
We have real sex. Real love.
But hey, if that's what you fancy Knock yourself out.

ScienceSensibility · 14/01/2021 22:19

@BornIn78

I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about sex dolls. The manufacturer took them along to a sex/porn exhibition in (I think) Germany. They allowed all of the men that visited the stand to ‘try them out’, they were allowed to do whatever they liked to the dolls except for having sex with them, to see just how real and human the dolls felt.

Preferred method of “testing” was men putting their hands around the dolls throat to strangle them, second was punching them, third was fisting them, both anally and vaginally. That’s what men did knowing they were being filmed.

Holy Jesus Christ. Is that true? While they were being filmed?

A new fucking low in Male behaviour.

Here’s a thought, let’s round up all the shit men in this world, and fuck them off to a designated continent with their sex robots, and women and girls can breathe a sigh of relief and live their lives in peace.

PoleToPole · 14/01/2021 22:21

I saw a woman being called a Karen on a social media group because she dared to challenge (politely actually), for making sleazy comment about a young woman's breasts. It's being used now left right & centre to put us stupid bitches back in our place, sometimes by women who fancy themselves as 'cool girls' so they can distance themselves and go 'NOT ME!!! I'm not like THEM! I'M ONE OF THE GOOD ONES. PLZ accept MEEEEE!!! LOLZ!!'

This in spades, it always reeks of desperation.
Ffs, dont expect the rest of us women to lower our standards simply because the "Im a cool girl, me" crowd will not raise their own.

Some of us even manage it when physically disabled or neurodiverse. Something men in the same situation apparently can't do and therefore need sex dolls/prostitutes for "reasons"
PlanDeRaccordement · 14/01/2021 22:28

@JayAlfredPrufrock
Stats of what? And why? All I did was correct a poster who said “women don’t mutilate men” which is not true because some women do mutilate men. What’s to argue about that? If you want to find out how many “some” is, then google is your friend.
I did a quick search on the cutting off the cock type of mutilation, and the first page listed the following women who have done this
Brenda Barattini
Shania Jones
Victoria Frabutt
Lorena Bobbit
Beatrice Aden
Sada Abe
Karuna Sanusan
Caroline Becker
Don’t have time to look at all the results...

shotofchips · 14/01/2021 22:29

@CaraDuneRedux

don't be a karen...

Oh, I do love to see a bit of internalised misogyny running riot!

Yes. And the use of 'hysteria' too.

Bet these women think of themselves as feminists too.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2021 22:31

@PlanDeRaccordement

Oh do stop being so disingenuous

PicsInRed · 14/01/2021 22:38

Lucie ain't Lucy, people.

Reddit must be slow today.

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/01/2021 22:42

What about the widows and widowers who want sex dolls that look like their deceased spouse? Would that be ok?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2021 22:42

Sick.

MissingLinker · 14/01/2021 22:42

Who here seriously can't tell the difference between the "old fashioned wank sock"- i.e a piece of fabric men use to catch semen when masturbating, and a breathing sex doll made to look as much like a human as possible which men can hit, choke and have sex with in ways which would be seriously dangerous to an actual woman?

You'd have thought that, if there was really no difference between the two, men wouldn't bother spending thousands on a sex doll. They'd just buy more socks. But I suppose it's no fun trying to choke a sock.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/01/2021 22:43

@cherrypie111

Wonder if posters also disagree with reborn dolls.. or is the hysteria saved for a 'breathing' lump of latex
That's the second time you've talked about hysteria: where is it? I can't see any.
PlanDeRaccordement · 14/01/2021 22:43

It's more likely that the doll gives the men an opportunity to practice and enjoy doing whatever he wants to do. It makes it easier for him to do the same to a woman.

Bit paranoid? You’re saying that using a sex doll will turn a man into sex offender?

PoleToPole · 14/01/2021 22:45

What about the widows and widowers who want sex dolls that look like their deceased spouse? Would that be ok?

No, it wouldn`t be ok.

wellthatsunusual · 14/01/2021 22:46

I remember the days when people argued that if men could access porn more easily it would stop them raping women because they would have their fantasies fulfilled by the porn. I think we can all agree that that definitely worked a treat. Hmm

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/01/2021 22:48

@Missinglinker
Well obviously there is a difference. Just like there is a difference between using your fingers and a Tiger Vibe G5
