Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

@KiKiKiKi123

When that creepy little kid Gage, on Pet Sematary, cuts through Jud’s Achilles’ tendon and kills him. Wtf. I still think about it sometimes.
Christ he looks like Chucky!
Ch3rish · 13/01/2021 18:13

One of mine is from the beginning of Cliffhanger where the woman falls in the mountains, proper freaks me out

Becca19962014 · 13/01/2021 18:14

The first was watching watership down when I was six in primary school, nice fun film about fluffy bunnies Hmm I remember because my foster mum had recently died, her last gift to me was, yes you guessed it - a rabbit! I was already devastated. Still can't hear "bright eyes". Everyone thought it was really funny how much it effected me more than anyone else. Early 80s it was.

So, six years later when a neighbour was looking after me and I was off school and said she had a fab film for us to watch I was apprehensive, she said no probs you like Star Trek. It was Aliens!!

My childhood was ruined by Return to Oz and the wheelers. It was on TV on a Sunday afternoon too.
Oh yes! And the gallery of heads! How effed up is that???

The scene from IT ( the original) when a kid gets sucked into a pipe, it was the look on his face and his arms and legs sticking out in front of him that haunted me, I’d not actually seen the film this was just a clip shown on an advert promoting it being on TV!

Opening scene from JAWS, with the woman being attacked, I found out later on some programme that they filmed that scene by essentially tying ropes around her and pulling them from the shore so it looked like she was being pulled about by the shark, they hurt her quite badly, you can clearly hear her say “god help me” in the film, that was a genuine plea by all accounts, they’d broke her ribs!! That film was terrifying to me as you didn’t see the shark, there is nothing scarier than our imaginations and that film tapped into that, for me anyway

XenoBitch · 13/01/2021 18:18

A few....

Watership Down... the scene towards the end where they are fighting in the tunnels and the big scary chief one kills the tattered old one and leaves him dead (I can not recall any names sorry!). How it just focuses on his body or a second or two. I can't watch it.

Starship Troopers - near the end when the big blobby bug sticks some sort of proboscis in a guys head and sucks out his brain.. how his eyes go up in his head. Arg, I can not watch that scene at all. I love the film but can't watch that bit at all.

Finally, and this one seems tame but it is horrible. Years ago there was a series on TV called Inside Natures Giants. Each episode had a massive dead animal on it that would be dissected and all its bits and bobs talked about. It was quite interesting. One episode had a great white shark on it, and as part of the episode they mentioned that man is the most danger to sharks, not them to us. It shows a shark that had had its finned removed kind of falling towards the camera and sink to the sea bed where it helplessly lay there. For some reason, it REALLY freaked me out... I had an anxiety attack that lasted for hours. I binged watched Black Books until about 7am to get the image out my head and had to have every light on in my flat. Was ridiculous.

BertyBotts · 13/01/2021 18:19

That awful girl crawling out of the TV on The Ring. Never thought something so daft could be so terrifying.

Bemystarlord · 13/01/2021 18:20

The one sceen that always gives me the quivers is from American History X i think. One character makes another lay face down on the road with the curb in his mouth then stamps on the back of his head. Makes my stomach curdle to just thinking about it.

Inafogtoday · 13/01/2021 18:22

Whattodoffs I was only thinking about that movie late last night and got up out of bed to close my curtains!

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 18:23

@Bemystarlord we were on about that upthread- horrific!

@Inafogtoday it's one of those films that sticks in your mind for reason!

@LutherRalph1

There is a scene in Luther where a man slides out from under the bed, and honestly, it's terrifying
And this scene

God, I always wonder what a sicko someone must be to even come up with something like this - that’s one I def won’t be watching.

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 18:27

I think its one of the Friday the 13th series (not sure) but there's a couple getting down and dirty on a bed and a big spike comes up from underneath the bed and straight through them!
Always checked under the bed since then lol

A Dennis Wheatley film, might have been "The Devil Rides Out".
A pregnant woman's legs were bound together, & the baby had to burst through her stomach.
I felt so queasy we had to leave the cinema.

Soundbyte · 13/01/2021 18:30

The cloakroom scene in the Lady in White, the boy is locked in there overnight and he’s scared shitless as it is, then he sees the ghost of a little girl and how she was murdered... I was about 8 or 9 and the feelings I had watching it have never left me! I had no knowledge of the film
Except that scene and looked it up last year and rewatched around Halloween. Still scared the crap out of me as an adult lol.

LadyFlumpalot · 13/01/2021 18:30

The Grudge. Two scenes. The first where the old lady is staring up at the ghost in the corner of the ceiling staring down at her and the scene where the woman wakes up to see the wet kiddy footprints.

My friend gave herself a good scare because of that scene!

Years after she had watched it she was living alone in a flat with her infant on the third floor and in the middle of the night she heard this tap tap tap on the window. She embarrassingly has no idea why because normally she is the most hard as nails and least flappable person around but immediately thought of that scene and then felt too scared to open the curtains because of course being so high up it couldn’t possibly be anything else obviously until eventually she gave herself a shake opened them to find a pigeon tapping its beak in the glass Grin

Dagnabit · 13/01/2021 18:31

When I was a child, around 11ish, I think, we watch Friday the 13th at my aunt and uncle’s house. I always remember the bit at the end, when Jason’s rotting corpse jumps out the lake when they’re in a boat. The whole film freaked me out, not sure why my parents let me watch it!

As an adult, the scene in The Ring when she crawls out of the tv....just the thought sends shivers down my spine!.

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 18:31

@Georgyporky Jesus that sounds bloody awful!

There's a scene in Hereditary where Toni Collette sort of swims through the air, you only kind of see it out of the corner of your eye but it terrified me. It still creeps into my subconscious sometimes late at night!

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 13/01/2021 18:32

There's a film with Kiefer Sutherland in...can't remember the title. His character assaults a girl and then smashes an ice sculpture on her head Sad I was way too young to watch the film anyway and it has stayed with me.

The first three quarters of Insidious scared me shitless but then it got silly. Still stopped me sleeping though
