I've checked a few times on the Whitehouse website, and so far they have not put up the transcript of Trump's speech. Perhaps they are pondering how to treat the phrase "I cannot emphasize that there must be no violence..."

There is so much mindboggling nonsense there I don't know where to start.

I stopped looking at McNinny's and Jenna whatsername's Twitter feeds as I got bored of all the scripture references. The fervent religious thing makes me cringe (and I'm Catholic) it's also a very dangerous part of American society and politics

As an outsider it’s difficult to understand how anyone can live in a country where children do school shooting drills; and claim that Trump et al didn’t know what they were doing when they inflamed the armed crowd.

It's weird, isn't it, reading about how normalised carrying guns is in the US. I mean, we know it, but reading about house members bypassing metal detectors because they have guns in their bags (and the paperwork to prove it's ok to be carrying guns in the capitol) is eye-opening.

Plus one of the links above led me to a rabbit warren of US news clips, and one of them (sorry not to link) was talking about multiple protests at state buildings in the coming week. These protesters will (apparently) be "armed but peaceful", which I consider to be the ultimate paradox

I read somewhere this TV Auguration Special is being shown on all the major stations, except Fox.

But it didn't say if it is Fox refusing to show it, or Biden and others not allowing Fox to show it.

Just listened to a wild podcast exchange between Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani.

Rudy is spinning the Antifa-did-this 🤯. And Bannon is like, “Rudy. Rudy. Rudy. OK. OK. Fine. Fine.”
Bannon: “I don’t mind being shut down for my craziness. I’m not gonna be shut down for yours.”

Rudy replies: “I’m really very frustrated. I’m not crazy.”
Bannon: “I know.” They continue talking, and Rudy comes back to his earlier point.
