20 year old DS had full blood count after he was complaining of palpitations. Results emailed back this afternoon. All res

ults appear OK but the nucleated red blood cell count looks high? What could this result mean?

Sorry forgot to put result: Nucleated red blood cell count (4266.). < 0.20 x10^9/L [0.0 - 0.2]

It means there’s a high level of immature blood cells in his sample. This could be as simple as anaemia, which in turn can cause palpitations. Or it could other things. Has he spoken to the doctor about the result is?

when I get a blood test I usually arrange an appointment to discuss results with my GP - otherwise little point in getting a test.
And the results are usually stated alongside the "normal" range.

Thank you for the advice. Not discussed with GP yet. That is his task for today.
