To point out that MN Talk is customisable and what you're seeing is not the same as what everyone else is seeing

I am happy to admit that I like things to be clear and accurate, so I find myself getting mildly irritated when people write in MN Talk, things like "the post on page 3" or "there's been 12 pages of responses".

Mumsnet Talk is customisable. Your page 3 is not necessarily the same as my page 3. You might have 12 pages of responses whilst I have only 5. Explaining things about the posts on the thread in the context of your own settings is only relevant to people who have the same settings as you. And unless you tell us what your settings are, there is no point you making the comment!

Thank you. I feel happier for having got that off my chest :)

Yes. And some people read up, some people read down. My newest posts in a thread are at the bottom and I have to scroll up.

I still have a thread on a single page so am constantly baffled by references to pages! And I have newest posts at the bottom too. But some posters do seem to assume that their way is the only way.

Isn't that scrolling down?
