So I'm currently looking to do up the house, we moved into our home during the first lockdown.
I keep scrolling through Facebook marketplace and gumtree.. but nothing is particularly jumping out at me!

I know so many people that have found awesome bargains on there.. so i thought I'd start a thread to share our best buys!

I'll start!

My last bargain, was earlier last year. We got a brand new wind back bed frame in plush velvet, RRP £1250 but we got it for £90 ShockGrin

I found a cardboard hamper of Poundshop goodies for £30 before Christmas but didn't want to be greedy so left it for people who might need it more.

LouHotel · 12/01/2021 19:44

Last year bought a happyland bundle for £40 it was like knew and easily £250 worth of different items. Kids have a full on city centre.

PatchworkElmer · 12/01/2021 19:45

Brio for DS. Cost £10, but I reckon there’s well over £200 worth if it was bought new.

HolaChicos · 12/01/2021 19:47

A large solid pine 6 seater dining table and 6 matching chairs for £20!

Hotcuppatea · 12/01/2021 19:48

From what I've seen, people often seem to have very unrealistic ideas of what their furniture is worth on Marketplace. I've found some bargains by watching and waiting until the seller cuts the price and then made an even lower offer. I think ebay is still the place to go for a bargain.

nancy75 · 12/01/2021 19:48

I bought an Oka sideboard for £25, it’s in perfect condition - they are £3k on the website.
I didn’t know what it was when I bought it, just thought it looked nice!

huhh · 12/01/2021 19:49

Sorry my post should have said 'wing back bed frame' BlushGrin

Mainly baby stuff, Cosatto pram bundle barely used for £80 when the bundle was £750 online. Next 2 me crib I think was £10, got lots of brand new clothes with tags on for free, Tommee Tippee nappy bin for free, Mamas and Papas £350 changing unit for free.

Although it's hit and miss and I've got an IKEA chest of drawers that had loads of bits missing to build it, a baby changing it that collapsed as one bit was warped and I hadn't seen as it was dismantled when collected.

Terracottasaur · 12/01/2021 20:15

I got two brand new, never sat in Ikea strandmon armchairs in the exact colour I needed for £195 - the cost of one brand new from the shop. I had just been about to buy them from ikea so it was like a gift from the heavens!

Oooo I love a marketplace bargain! We’ve moved house this year and are trying to buy secondhand where possible.

We bought an overmantle mirror we liked the look of for the fireplace for £20, turns out it’s from Laura Ashley and cost something obscene brand new 😁

CuteOrangeElephant · 12/01/2021 20:33

Stokke Tripp trapp chair with newborn set for 50 pounds! We still have it three years later minus the newborn set, which was sold on for 30 quid.

A massive tub of Duplo for a tenner. With a massive passenger plane that is worth more than that on its own.

PrincessHB · 12/01/2021 22:28

A big solid wood wardrobe for £50 and even delivered it for free which was a lovely bonus (did offer extra). I had been looking at a £250 argos crap chipboard one as ours collapsed as it was moved with new carpets being put in. I was so chuffed to have found this one.
I also got a lovely baby bouncer for £15 when I was going to buy the exact one for £80 online. Again, so pleased I saw it before I bought new. A snuggle bath for £5. Baby stuff always great 2nd hand as they're barely used. I have regretted buying a new changing table as so many keep popping up that are better and cheaper.

Handsnotwands · 12/01/2021 22:55

A danish mid century unit (borg mogensen) £15. They go for around £1k in fancy Dan vintage places

Sgtmajormummy · 12/01/2021 23:06

A rinkydinky 1950s brown wooden trolley with two drawers and wings to make it oval. Just the right size for the printer, spare paper and a mobile phone charging station.
€20

EggyPegg · 12/01/2021 23:13

A solid farmhouse style dining table and 4 chairs for £20 and when I arranged to buy it, the seller offered me the matching dresser for another £20. I'd always wanted one. Transformed our dining room.

DS2 wanted a Ravenclaw cloak for Christmas. Gryffindor are ten a penny, Ravenclaw is much harder to find. I expanded my search country wide and found one. That was in his size luckily but 200 miles away. Thankfully the seller was really nice and agreed to post it. He loves it.

ChickenNugget86 · 12/01/2021 23:13

Huge baby clothes bundle for £15. It literally had newborn, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 months and the correct seasons for my son. Many joules, m&s, next clothes. Was made up

MustardMitt · 12/01/2021 23:16

Best was a brand new pair of Adidas trainers for £15. Best value ever though would be Freecycle - I got our full bathroom suite for nothing as this guy was ripping out and replacing his bathroom!

flyingspaghettimonster · 12/01/2021 23:18

My favorite is a 22 room massive double sided dollhouse with lighting etc and lovely decor I got for $250. It is 5ft high, 2ft wide and 6ft long and has additional add on rooms and a church. It was custom built so is real wood and solid but can come apart by floor levels to move around. I cannot wait to make it my own with new furnishings and dolls. Here are two of the dolls I have created so far enjoying one of the rooms.

Best was a little tykes cozy coupe for free, all it needed was a quick wipe down.

Notsure2020 · 13/01/2021 00:20

200kg of barbell weight plates for £25 during lockdown, weight prices were going for £4 per kilo at the time so it was the bargain of the century. The woman who sold it didn't really know anything about weightlifting etc and said it was just gathering dust in her garage after her exhusband left.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 13/01/2021 00:21

Panasonic breadmaker for £5

pawivy · 13/01/2021 00:23

@eggypegg exactly the same here. Went with trailer to collect farmhouse table and they said could we take the dresser and sideboard as well to save them paying for rubbish uplift!!

Artinsurance · 13/01/2021 00:33

Not FB but eBay, a brand new Kessebohmer pull out larder. RRP around £600, I paid £37

skankingpiglet · 13/01/2021 00:36

My best marketplace bargains have been a solid oak corner cupboard in 'as new' condition for £40, and a Great Little Trading Co play shop/theatre plus a load of wooden play food for £35 (also in perfect condition).
However, the Stompa midsleeper I bought from Ebay for £10 beats both of those. It came complete with a clean mattress (I know some can be funny about this, but it was in good nick and I immediately zipped it into a mattress protector any way) and a play tent for the space under the bed. It had a couple of scratches but a bit of filler, £20 of spray paint and 4hrs labour, and it looked brand new.

IndieTara · 13/01/2021 00:38

A£3000 sofa for £50
